I doubt the materials cost is over $1000 so they are really selling the research that went into making it. This also means that if they were able to sell on HK the price would come down very quickly

The cost is obviously related to the R & D, life time service contract, life time software and equipment up-dates and installations...... and it's also not a "hobby" class instrument........if HobbyKing offered it for sale, you can bet everything related to quality and service would turn to crap instantly..........
