Default Electric Fun Fly Hots

Electric Fun Fly Hots

This is an old model, that I like a lot.
I build Hots in 1992, but using glow engine, a Webra 32.

In fact Hots was my best fun fly, capable to perform any aerobatics.
Last week, I decided to make an Electric version, of this model.

For the engine I choose an old Hyperion Z3007, 200 watts, powerful, and compared whit any 25 glow engine.

One challenge is made the model has light has possible, and considering no Glow Engine, I could change the original airfoil for a Naca 016, and made the things has light has possible.
The model is on work bench, but the wings weight 130grams, the fuse 85grams, and tail group
40grams.
The 2170 Evo Batteries will be over the fuse, and Rx and servos inside the wing.

Has I consider participate of Scratchbuild Contest Number Two, I think I have time enough to finish the model and fly it, Just in time.

But, no Mather the competition, the important is report this model to Wattflyer, and share whit folks here.

This is the steps of building, and at this moment I am thinking about the coverage, and also where install the receiver and ESC.

But I do prefer build first, and during the process, locate the things.
Hope you like it.

Hyperbolic Lady, is one of my best gliders.

Has I am a divided man, I love gliders one day and on the other the fun fly's.

I never see any common point in so different models, but........

Thumbs up

Thuesday 23 ,(today).

Hots is in covering process, the wing servos era installed, also the engine.
I choose transparent monokote for the wings, tail and rear of fuselage.
On the under surface of wing, I going to try some different colors, like a big stripe, or some stars.

This model in fact is a Christmas gift for Cebolinha my son, he didn’t know that.
So, he is helping in anything he can.

I think that is going to be a big surprise for him.

Thanks a lot Guga

My English is terrible, and the images very poor.

The idea was show the Hots, but nobody cares about.

Well, this is normal, considering that Hots is an old model, and people are searching for new things, maybe some foamy models.

By the way Hots is ready to fly, totally assembled.
On Saturday, in Campão , Hots will get rid of earth.

I hope you where there to see.

In flight Fun Hots

Finally, it’s Sunday, no rain, and I can fly Fun Hots for the first time.
The day is a little windy at São Paulo, cloudy, and whit many thermals.

After a very careful inspection, all the commands works well, engine setup fine, a small 10x3/8 propeller, whit enough trust to make the model climbs vertically.

The final weight 25oz, and 20 degrees of aileron course on closed dual rate, and 35 on open.
I choose closed dual rate, only to feel Hots reactions, on turns, and full rudder course, also elevator.

Take off. Climbs like a train on the rails. No bad tendencies. A little nose up, but the model needs no trim for nothing.

A tight turn for the left, another for the right, some rolls, and I realize that the model needs more course on ailerons.
Whit 35 degrees, or full aileron, I have enough authority, and some aerobatics could be performed.

Performing Looping, tight like a good fun fly, roll rate about 500 degrees per second, and the model behaves docile and reliable.
On landing, the model shows no tendency to stall, came straight and docile, and also glides a lot.

At this moment I think Cebolinha my best friend and son, have a good model to practice some aerobatics.

The first flight you can see on:

I hope you like it.

Hi Charlie

Have you see this video?

I made another one, but my internet conexion is to slow, and post videos cost more time than build models.

Maybe this week I could find where to scan the plans.
