I am confused. The owner of your LHS is dead and he had bad balsa?

Some of the original folks involved in Sig have died, but the company still carries on in the same quality way they have always, providing top quality products.

Sig is the manufacturer of the Four Star 60 so any Four Star you buy anywhere will come from them.

That doesn't change what Rabbit said - Sig makes the Four-Star. It doesn't matter whether you order one from Sig, buy one in your LHS, or buy one anywhere else online - it's still made by Sig.

I'd just buy one direct from Sig, and if there was any questionable wood, I'd send them a polite email asking about the possibility of replacing that piece, or I'd go to my LHS and personally select some wood to remake the part in question.

If you're really concerned about it, though, think about scratch-building something. I'm not sure how easy it'd be to find Four-Star plans, but an Astro Hog is a very similar design, and plans for that should be very easy to find.

I am still confused. Which owner of Sig Mfg. died last month? I don't remember hearing about either of them passing.

Glen Sigafoose died in 1980 and Hazel Sig Hester and Maxey Hester sold Sig Mfg. in 2001 to Chris LeHeron and Dave Arendt. Did one of them die?

Inquiring minds want to know.
