Default first r/c flight ever! solo.:) t-28

so excited! i have been logging lots of hours on the phoenix-4 flight sim in prep for my first flight of my first ever r/c plane. its the parkzone ultra-micro t-28. it was purchased by my father as a gift to help get me into the hobby. he used to fly when younger. on saturday i went to a large open field with my spektrum dx6i, 6 charged lipos and my courage. it was not ideal wind at all. gusty but clear skies. she was up in 6 feet to my amazement.the sim training was amazingly helpful. i battled the wind for 4.5 flights before i figurd i better call it because of wind. she flew great! i am in love. i have never flown any r/c plane and had realized this was not the ideal plane AFTER purchase. no crashes. take offs from hard dirt and landed in tall grass. i dont have the confidence yet for hard surface landings. with calm wind maybe. just wanted to say how excited i am to officially be a r/c pilot! I AM ALLREADY TOTALLY ADDICTED! now i want to master this little guy so i can get the bigger version t-28! my father flew them in the navy so it has a special meaning for me. glad to be aboard. walt

Congratulations! I'm sure none of us will forget our first time.

If you can handle that little guy, there's a world of airplanes you can fly without trouble.

Congratulations! If more people would spend some time on a simulator first like you did there would be many more successful first flights. When I decided to get back into R/C flying in 2001 after an 18 year layoff I bought Real Flight before buying a plane. I flew the sim until I was completely competent. THEN I started buying and building kits. My first real flight was with a GWS Slow Stick and a Mountain Models SwitchBack. Thanks to the sim I had no anxiety and was completely relaxed. Several flights on both planes with complete success. I credit it all to the time I spent on the sim. I flew better than I ever did back in the 80's.

Keep at it. You're in for a fun ride......

Joe

Congrats! Nice that you have a connection with your father and the plane. You'll have to give the big T-28 a paint job to match one your father flew!

And eventually your family will be dragged into the looking out the window at the tree club as well. Lol. My son who is 4 checks constantly hahaha.

Congrats on the maiden. I started on one of those and it's so beat up but I fly it every trip to the field. Its a great plane.
