Default Hobby Zone Super Cub

I finally retired my last E-Starter after 4 years of flying and hundreds of hours! Two weeks ago, I Built a HZ Super Cub to replace it. It already has 15 hrs. on it and I love it! powertrain consists of a Scorpion 2215/18 outrunner, 10x5 APC E-prop, 25amp esc and 11.1 volt 1800mah packs. Performance is excellent. I get about 15 minutes of run time with throttle management. The PA18 flies like something twice it's size.. Rock steady!

I flew one for a movie. I was so impressed with the plane I made them give it to me. I haven't upgraded it yet but after the motor goes Im sure I will. Very good flying plane.

Are you running your SC on 3 channels or did you cut in ailerons?

R,E,Throttle. The ailerons(and flaps are drawn on with a pen). I increased the rudder area by making the top half "full flying".

+1 on liking the pen treatment, I think I will do the same on my Cub. I think my foam is different then yours...I have the LP (blue trim). I wonder if a fine tip black sharpie would work on the Z Foam?

Default Cheated death one again!

I pulled a good one this afternoon! I took off(from my street)with what I thought was a fully charged pack.. It wasn't! I had just cleared the first set of trees, and the minimum votage cutoff did it's job! The model went down out of sight and touched down straight and level without hitting anything! Time to go buy a lottery ticket!

Default HZ Super Cub

Love the Super Cub also. Taught myself to fly with it. Have 9; 3 regular, 4 low wing and two with tri-motors. Photos on five. All have brushless, alierons and lipos.

Default How each cub flys

Thanks for the kind words Navy ATC
The TriMotor flys good; the sound is great. Have lousy video which I want to retake. The orange one on the right flys real good; has Wing Dragon Wings. Can't tell much difference from the std Cub wing. The yellow in the middle with the tricycle landing gear is one of the best to fly. Has an AXI 2408/24. It has to vertical alum pole with forward camera and a side view camera. If you want to see some beautiful video, a man in Minnesota has a Hedtad plane of his own design made for videoing.

The white low wing on the lower left was one of the most fun to fly and one of the fastest with an Exceed RC 480 but crashed when all controls failed. (Spektrum DX6 TX)
The biplane on the bottom right was tail heavy until I moved the motor out, but it was time consuming to install the struts that I just made a low wing monoplane.
The yellow and black one is a great flyer with a Turnigy C3536. It has been modified to carry a small video camera on a three foot alum rod; one mounted on the rear and one mounted on the front. The footage can be found on YouTube under Alton Road Flyers, but a warning; after a few seconds it is extremely boring

This blue cub has not been flown yet

This low wing cub has wings from an X-Ray and a fast one.

Started this cub with a single motor on top of the wing but it was extremely tail heavy so I add a couple of motors on the wings. The tail is from another crashed plane. Have not finished it yet.

Hope I didn't bore you too much.

Default Gerry's Hobby Zone Super Cub with RimFire BL Motor

It was a terrific early morning and it's the 2nd day that I have noticed a considerable cooling of the temperature everyday!

Dead Calm allowed for flawless RC Airplane Flying and Gerry took up his Hobby Zone Super Cub with RimFire Outrunner Brushless motor and standard wing assembly without ailerons and the model flew perfect.

A few pictures and Video!

Thumbs up Central Florida Weather conditions in December!

Thursday in Central Florida was a cool 37 Degrees F at 7:00am and I got out to fly my 4+ year old Super Cub with "Yellow" Covering over to Moon Port Modelers RC Club and it was majestic.

Someone with a Hobby-Lobby PILOT-1 Champ of 52 inch wing span
http://www.hobby-lobby.com/pilot_1_c..._7144_prd1.htm

has tried to fly and encountered less than ideal characteristics perhaps mainly due to the setup and his flight was very short lived as the model veered too much with Elevator throw and had to cut throttle to allow the model to land.

They hated me for having too much Fun with my Super Cub as it was Hands Off flying!!![]
