Default One more dumb question :)

My battery and E-flite Balancing charger came in today. I assumed the charger would just plug into a wall outlet...what's with these red and black clamps? I googled around a little bit, and one page talked about one of those emergency car jump pack things. I have one, although I'm not looking at it right now. Where would these clamps from the charger go on it? On the end of the clamps of the battery jumper? Isn't this going to be too much power?

Thanks for putting up with my million stupid questions My Tx will be here tomorrow, and I think everything is working properly.

Oh, I lied. One more question: How long should this gyro be taking to arm? It's been sitting here for a few minutes and is still blinking red.

To the mod that is moving my threads: Sorry, seems like a good thread for stupid questions I guess this is sort of another E-flite thread....but it's more of just a charging question I think...

ahh, and why is my ESC so hot with it just sitting on my desk waiting for the gyro to engage?

I can answer one question for you.
Those clamps are called bananna plugs, you plug them into a car battery or a 12V power supply. I recomend a 12V power supply instead of your car, heres the one i have.
http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_02871487000P

Its only 30$, and its portable so you can charge anywere, youll have about 5-6 charges on it, before you have to plug it into your wall and charge it back up again.

I had the same question you had, and this power supply works like a charm. The only negetives about it is that you only get 6 charges, then you have to go home and re-charge it, wich will take over 15 hours.

All you have to do is connect the red with red, and black with black, and then turn it on, set your settings on your E-flite charger, then your ready to go.

Thats my two cents, Good luck!

What E-flite charger do you have?
If you put the charge rate at 2.0Amps, it should take about 40 minuets to an hour.
If you dont want to buy that 12V power supply i sent you, you could still use your car battery. I only recomend it because then you have to open the hood of your car, and if your Lipo catches on fire, it wouldnt be too good for it to be near your car.

If your car battery does ever run down, you can use the 12V battery to jump it, so it kind of serves 2 purposes.

hrm...the stock one. It says Output: 1.8A

Wow, an hour isn't bad at all...I used to be into electric RC cars a little bit and I hated it. 10 minutes of run time, 4 hours charge time.

1.8A will be fine, its better to be lower than higher, if your too high, your battery will pretty much die. Ide say an hour on that charger.
And if you ever go with bigger batteries in the future, heres the charger/ chargers i recomend.
If you have the $ - http://secure.hobbyzone.com/catalog/...h/EFLC505.html
If you dont want to spend that much-
http://secure.hobbyzone.com/catalog/.../EFLC3005.html

Sorry to push all this information, but i was pretty confused about what charger to choose when i made my first choice.

Oh no, thank you very much. more and/or bigger batteries are probably going to be the next investment(around parts...) I put into this.

Anyone know about the Gyro or ESC issues?

Is the ESC supposed to be making noise? I don't really know how to explain the noise....almost like static or something..

1.8A charging an 1800mAh battery = 1C. The charge time will be about an hour.

Well I guess I'll hope the blizzard doesn't hit to hard, and make my way to the LHS this weekend and see if they can help anything.

floorunner,
Is this an e-flite charger that has a port for an AC adapter to plug into it? If so, that's the way to go.

The problem with the ESC is you don't have a transmitter sending the RX signals. It should not arm until it sees a proper signal from the radio set. Think of how bad that might turn out if it armed and then took off and chopped you up...

As for the gyro that may also be the issue.

It it's the one from a CX or CP it won't work. Needs at least 3A capacity.

cover shipping and paypal fees and it's yours, so, like 7 bucks i think? If you want, for 15 bucks more i'll give you a brand new set of CF blades that i also had from my b400 and never used. (just no package for them since i took them out to see if they would fit my Trex.) i think that's even cheaper than a set of wood blades.
