I guess if it is scale, you would keep the factory name, but didn't WWII pilots all name their planes? I mean, they didn't all paint "Spitfire" on the side of the plane with a half naked lady did they?

Maybe I am just weird lol...

Often after a bad flying session I refer to the plane as a POS.

My former Dos Equis Trojan was "Carlito"

My DWfoamies BAF Juka I called "Morticia" because the purple and black scheme just sorta happened... as if the airbrush was possessed.

5-buck chuck glider kit - called it "ThermaChili" - not sure why. I pretty much learned ailerons on this thing.

My Parkzone Corsair + Trojan + P-51 mashup was called Frank for obvious reasons...

My Current Tobasco Trojan is called "Leslie" because the Hangar-9 pilot came out looking like the actor of Naked Gun / Police Squad fame.

My EZ glider Pro is named Hans - even though it is stars and stripes it is still just, so.... German. Eine Multiplecks flugzeug mit der Elapor foamandschitz!

Sure i am forgetting some others...

Jeez!! Almost forgot my pride and joy< The Devastator. Built to get rid of the combat competition. Check out the cannon on the front. Still working out the bugs, as the match goes out when the pilot tries to light it.

Gord.

No fancy names.

I like to have a name for every plane and for most it is easy: it is written on the box :-) But there are some planes I bough second (or more) hand without a real name. Then I am completly uninspired. A motor powered sailplane just gets MS1 and so on. I even came up to 3D3 ! One is named GW1 - it is green/white colored.

But so I have less problems confusing it with some other plane. There seems to be a lack of good names. For some there are plenty of quite different models: Gemini, Voodoo, Wizard, Arrow ...

My first plane - a Mini Super Cub - is named Li'l B. That's a contraction of its real name, which it acquired while it was stubbornly stuck in a tree. As I hurled my orange extension cord at it, I began to exclaim, "Come down from there, you little [email protected]$7ard!!!"

My Radian glider is named Gertrude.

Hehe, Double Ugly, must be a horrid looking ship. As long as it flies!

Oh, and the newest addition to the family, is HOSS. It is a Hype Fox sloper (no motor ofc!).
OFC, not a lick of wind on the slope since I got it, and five days of solid rain forecasted from today.

Cats have a funny way of sticking around where the food is

Yep, old double ugly, has more lives than a crate full of cats. It's been crashed, grabbed by various trees, substained many hard landing but keeps coming back for more.

Hey Numbthumbs, that's something that I've never thought of before, nicknames for RC planes !

Apart from trimming down the original names, I'm afraid I don't ! I only have one POS and that's my Funjet that's been crashed at least 10 times . All the other's I love .

I'll have to have a think over some suitable names........
