Thanks, At the time I ordered the motor HK/C had a very slim selection of props for some reason. I'll probably go with a 3-bladed prop to gain some thrust & much needed ground clearance. When I first tried the set up I used a MAS 15X8 prop that showed 1328W IIRC but on the first flight the prop got it's tips chewed down a bit on landing so I bent the gear in a tad to gain some clearance. Another reason I don't usually run wood props is that they just don't last on our rough field when landing. If the winds are just right & there's no vehicles in the small parking lot we use I can set 'em down on the paved lot but like I said the winds have to be out of the right direction.

SJ

Here is the currrent setup in my FVK Bandit...I hope this thread is still alive! In the video, it starts at 1:51...

Turnigy 35-48 1100Kv
Turnigy Plush 80A ESC
10x8 Cam Aeronaut folding prop
4S 30C(35C) 3000Mah Turnigy Battery

= 1070 Watts @ 67.96A.

The first test in the video is so overamped I changed the prop off right away. The 10x8 is still overpropped, but as a hotliner I only use five to six seconds throttle every thirty seconds or so, and it will stay. Fun, fun, fun...I flew it with the 12x8 for about six batteries too before I watt tested it. The motor came down pretty hot, but KUDOS to Turnigy that it did not melt at 89A and 1360+ Watts lol...

It was suggested I should get an update to my awards. Static testing results of my 40% Extra today were 280A at 50V = 14KW.

First test flight is next week.

Build thread here...

No problem Chellie. It's not a biggest numbers thing for me. Flying a 40% on electrons is going to be a buzz. Cheers.

Default New life in an old plane!

Oh heck yeah!

Gotta say wattflyer works for me again!

Short story:

Chellie posts slowjohn auction thread, Jeff @ Heads up donates a battery, Jim loses auction to late night sleep, Jim calls Jeff @ Heads up, gets recommendation for battery. Battery arrives, Jim is ecstatic.

Results:
11 year old HET Jet
Castle 80 amp controller
WiMoTec motor/fan

1200 watts!

Click on your awards showcase Nitro, it's still there. You have so many awards there's not enough room under your user ID to display them all!

LOL Nitro, you are making them make a bigger showcase for your awards! The 3kW should have priority though, if you admins can manage it?

Ahhh.... lesson learned... didnt know that only 4 awards show, in order of award date, with oldest getting bumped off.

If I get my 3K award taken away, then reinstated, it will show.

I'm on the fence... others have had awards 'rotate off' so I should probably live with it....right? I am kinda proudest of my 3K.

I was told I would qualify for two awards? The 3kw award and my 100+ mph award. Here is everything.
