I've been RC'g for more than 55years and seen various 'fads' come and go. I've seen some excellent brand names come and go.
There is one 'fad' that I have difficulty understanding ..... SF props.
I have profile ... foam .... balsa .... lite-ply .... 3D and all sorts of models (over 50 odd at last count) ... and I've tried recc'd SF props and also experimented with varying sizes. I just cannot see why they get used or recc'd.
Years ago - flexi nylon props were only for low power slow stuff and 99.9% of models never saw one. Today the SF prop seems to have favour with people.
I have a whole bunch of them from testing for various models - but they will stay unused now apart from 8x6 SF that I cut back to 7 for my RC Eagle .. if I am not using a 7x5E prop.
I have tried on my Katana, Edge, Extra, Hummer etc. and all I get is weak punch outs as the prop flexes ... I hear the womp womp womp as it gets oversped in manoeuvres .... changing to a standard E prop and punch outs etc. are crisp and instant.
So my question is to those who do use them ... Why ??
