Default Timber 1.5 without AS3X

How does the Timber fly without the gyro stabilization system?
I'm interested in the Timber to do some flying at home and on floats. I use Futaba radio systems and will be getting the PNP version. All of the flight review videos talk about how great and stable it is. But they also mention that are using the AS3X. Doesn't seem like a fair review when they are using a gyro system.

I’ve had a Timber for a few years with out AS3X and it’s a very nice flying model, highly recommend.
