I am about ready to head out to BW3s for lunch (eastern time here in Indiana)

Yeah, it seems like a slow day. Its gonna be real slow I think, when disappointed time stands still...

Anyone know someone from south bend that might loan me a JR / Spektrum helo TX for a weekend?

Thanks, I've had fish in my office for about 2 years now. Got the big tank last fall. Its a 50 gallon bow front with mostly Cichlids (a mix of south american and african)..

I attempted to start a fish related help site at one point, but quickly lost time to things that are more fun... lol.. its still at http://fishelp.net

PS curious, why the quotes on tonhe ?

I used to keep tropical fish, beginning in the late 1960's until I got rid of my last 100 gallon tank about 8 years ago. Kept all different kinds. I had a clown loach like the one in your tank that was over 6" long when I gave him away.

I like the African ciclids. My favorites were Lamprologus brichardi.

How easy is it to keep a salt water tank? I had all kinds of trouble keeping the algae out of my 10 gallon freshwater tank...

I went out of town for a week, and asked my father-in-law to feed my angelfish... When I got home, the water was so cloudy that I couldn't see the fish! He had fed the fish about a YEARS worth of food in one week...

Needless to say, he killed my fish... After that, I decided the tank was just too much trouble, and sold it all in a garage sale... :o

tonhe, If you have a decent camera try pressing the lens up against the tank in macro. If you have a really good camera with a remote flash, hold it from the side or on an angle.

Had my wife hold the flash one side of a large aquarium and I at a right angle from her and we I counted to three and took a picture. This was a very large round aquarium with jelly fish. Very cool shot.

This here phantom , non existing post .... is by way of ignoring this "Ignore this thread" thread as requested by tonhe. Thus it was then that I thought not to mention that many years ago, I did try to keep some Discus ... ( the King of aquarium fish) .
My FAILURE to achieve this goal was a massive success!! Much like .... "he sets a very low standard and is highly successful in maintaining it".
Thus, while ignoring all this , I figured that .... as this is embedded in a model aeroplane site ... the clue to my successful failure may lie in the conceptual design of the tank.
Should it have been ... a virtual tank, full of imaginary Discus... powered by Li-po's, and they being radio controlled by a SPACE MONKEY.
mmmmmmmmm anyone know anyone suitable and up to the task ?

Depends.. Are you rich? No? Then I'd stay away from salt water. Just my not so humble opinion. The amount of gear you need to keep a healthy salt water tank is massive. And its a very very very steep learning curve.

If you're interested in doing freshwater. I'd read up on tank cycling, and follow those steps closely, it think I might have some instructions on http://wiki.fishelp.net (before I partially gave up on the site)

If you're having algae problems, well, 1. you're going to have algae, the natual process that evolves during your tank cycling produces large amounts of nitrate, which algae consome to help keep your tank in balance, so, unless you do a planted aquarium, its a part of the life cycle that needs to be there in some degree. Now, your water shouldnt be green, and you should be able to keep your glass clean by doing biweekly maintenance (after the tank is stable after a year or so, until then weekly)

If you're going out of town, I highly recommend getting a measuring spoon and leaving instructions on how much to feed and when. or if you have more complicated feedings, leave baggies of food, marked for each day you're gone.. I've done both with some success. The one time I left it up to someones judgement was bad news..

Anyway, if you want to ask any more questions, of if I forgot to explain something, let me know.. I can talk about fish almost as long as i can talk about helos !

I wish I had a decent Digital SLR with a detachable flash.. but I will try holding the camera up to the tank, i assume with the flash on ? I have a Canon Digital Elph sd7xx something IS -- cant remember and its at work atm....... its 7.1 megapixel i thinks..

Maybe i'll be inspired to buy a new camera.. lol.. just what I need, to spend more money..
