Default Is the E-flite T-28 Trojan Still The Best Foamy?

Is the E-flite T-28 Trojan Still The Best Foamy? I do my best to answer that during the Unboxing & Preliminary Review of this upgraded RC Plane legend.

E-flite Trojan Review Notes:

Pros:
- The option of using 3S or 4S power
- A proven and legendary airframe
- SAFE/AS3X Receiver with the BNF Basic version
- Stronger nose wheel
- Carbon fiber added to the horizontal stab
- Very quick RC Airplane build time
- Easy radio setup with recommended radios
- ESC works well with Spektrum Smart packs & lets you know if your flight packs are not charged enough to fly

Cons:
- Color is a con for me, but may be a Pro for some due to increased visibility.
- No retracts, but this price point for a BNF, does imply that.
- The air gap in the canopy is a con for me, but should not be the end of the world.

In the UK - the best Foamie has to be one of the WOT series ......

Until you've flown a WOT4 .... you'll never know !!

I wouldn't say it ever WAS the best foamie. There are so many to choose from and what perspective you are looking at it from makes that a very arbitrary statement.

LOL Fireman Bill!

It was the everything plane for many for a decade, so I would hardly call it arbitrary to ask that question.

Here is the maiden flight with that plane:

It is arbitrary. If you want a high speed wing this is not the best foamie. A Ritewing Demon would be a better choice.
If you want a good introductory trainer the E-Flite apprentice may be a better choice.
If you want a float plane for flying off water a Timber may be the best.

Saying anything is the best as a general statement seldom covers it all.

And for many a decade... really?

Hey Guys .... looking in from outside USA ... it was noted that many US based suggestions were made for the T28 as a follow on model once 'pilot' was comfortable flying on own with their first model.

In UK - we had similar with the WOT4 ... and I am sure that many in UK / USA / ROW can attest to quite a few other models ... Das Stick / Ugly Stick etc .

The allure of the T28 I think was that the intermediate pilot gained a scale looking model while still having a 'safe-ish' model.

Personally I think its a bit bloated and not my sort of model ... but we all have our favs.

That is kind of what I am getting at. to each their own I suppose. Some folks really like Ford, some like Chevrolet, Some like Spektrum some like Futaba...To say something is the best in such a wide market is a bit of a reach.

I'm not knocking the T-28. I had one,, good flyer but I sold it. just not for me.

Here is the second flight:

As far as the plane goes, when I started flying in 2011, this was the Gold Standard for a Park Flyer. EVERYONE at all of the local fields have 1-5 of them.........no joke.
