Default Eagle

I was given a Eagle that had been started and then the guy grew tired of it so I said I would take it and finish it. It came with a motor and ESC and some servos but it was a bit of a mess.
I had to virtually rebuild it but today I finally finished it and it is ready for a maiden.
It has a 3548 900kV motor and 55 amp ESC.
I used my FrSky gear and fitted a D4R-II Rx (Changed to X4R-SB and A3 Gyro with S-Bus)
I fitted 17 gram metal gear servos for the ailerons and 2 x 9 gram servos for the V tail. It originally had 9 gram servos for the ailerons but this is quite a large bird.
It is constructed of foam so I hope it lasts for a while at least.
It has a ply frame.
If it goes OK then I may invest in a 12" folding prop later on.
Wingspan is 2 meters.
I will paint some eyes on it if it flies OK. :-)

It has so much spare room in it, it is ridiculous.....

That is cool. Those can be very deceiving in the air. Looks so real especially if there are some other real ones circling the area.

We have a very large dam beside our flying field that normally has many waterbirds, ducks, pelicans etc. It will be interesting to see how they react. Also a resident magpie that likes to terrorize our models. I wonder if he will be game enough to swoop on the eagle?

Because it is so darn big (wide belly) I thought I might have trouble launching it, so I had a re-think and fitted a X4R-SB Receiver and a A3 Gyro with S-Bus. This has allowed me to set auto level to assist with launching. Cross fingers. Waiting on the weather...

There are 2 available that I know of and that link you have added is the larger one.

Mine is totally home built and is 2 meters span so it is pretty big for hand launching.
I have a flying buddy that has the smaller one and I did a video for him and it looks quite realistic flying. Both are available at Banggood.

Yachtie has the 1430 mm version, and I have the 1200 mm Mini Eagle. Both available from Dancing Wings via Banggood. There are other manufacturers also, such as Fly Party. All seem to be excellent flyers.

Yachtie lost his when he flew into the sun and disappeared. Possibly got caught in a thermal as it finished up over a kilometer away. He gave up looking for it but got a phone call a day or so later when a student found it in the grounds of a school. It only had minor damage.
