am I ask'in to much of this plane? A-10 GWS
GWS A-10,,,Theres HUGELY differant opinions on the Brushed-Verses-brushless,
I want one but can't afford another brushless twin set-up 
but have all the stuff for brushed 
(And a brushed-lipo/nicad ESC-25
)and plan to use a 1600 3 cell on her, as those that know me know how Light I build 
(24Oz formossa11)
am I ask'in to much of this plane?
I'd like to order her but I don't want to sink a bundle-o-$ on her to get-her-go'in,

I had a very nice flying GWS A-10 it was when they first came out. EDF50 brushed setup with a 7 cell 700 mah NiMh pack. No landing gear. I also flew it on a 2S lipo as well. You needed WOT all the time but it was doable.

It is very doable. It is what I will do whenever I get around to building it. There are lots of guys on rcgroups.com using the EDF55 setup with the stock brushed motors running off a 20-25A ESC and a TP 2100 3S.

Thanks guys::I've noticed that most the threads I've read said they were fly'in um at 24-29 Oz But the fly'in weight on the manual says 12.7-14.46oz, have'in said that,,are these guys build'in lead-sleds or is GWS weight est, WAY OFF?bub, steve

I think some are building lead sleds because they are putting high power dual ESC setups in there with 3s LiPos. Because of that extra power, they are putting CF all throughout the wings AND fuselage and some have even glassed and painted it. I think if you are going to do it with stock brushed motors and a 3s Lipo you would only need a little CF in the engine nacelle mounts, wings, and fusealge around where the wings mount and thats it. Build her light!

CrazyAggie05::I like um light and always build with less poundage than kit say it'll be, but when I saw dozens of post say'in 24+Oz I thought the 14-17 was a infamous GWS tran's screw-up the manuals are famous for ( I'm sure you've noticed!!) I'm guilty!! I built a heavy A-10!! I glassed and painted her all up and then to be sure it had enough power I mounted a 480/1020KV outrunner in her butt!! I would suggest putting a CF spar across the entire Horzinal stab in the rear. It is prone to breaking there if you make it a belly lander. If you are running gear you could save the weight and leave it out. The wing saddle is another weak part on the A-10. Some put carbon rods inside the fuse and some will glass just the wingsaddle with 3/4oz. FG cloth and epoxy. Just some thoughts........

Guys I watched this one fly today but didn't find out what he used for power other than the stock EDFs. It flew but only adaquately no extra thrust. Yours with the 480 as a pusher is way faster C.T.D.

actually he said it was stock.. I'm assuming that ment brushed ?... with 2200 3cell pack, and he said it was very stable, just not enough power for him... and I felt it... it was a lead sled... It prob would fly fine on stock bushed, so long as you keep the battery weight down... prob go with 2cell 1000-1300mah pack.... and it should fly great... you could also try the pusher mod... that would prob help alot...

I was go'in brushed with a 1600 3cell, I'm start'in to have 2'nd thoughts here, I just finished another twin with outie's an I just can't $$$ another twin right now but have the brushed lipo-nicad 25amp ESC at the ready and hoped it would do, thanks , bub,steve

to be honest with you, I haven't built one yet, the only referece that I have is other similar size/weight gws kits like the formosa, I use a single 22amp 45gram motor with a 1000mah 3cell pack on the formosa1 and get 2:1 or 3:1 thrust, but I know that with edf's you need twice the power, so I'd assume you could go with brushed motors around 40grams each and that should be ok with 1600 3cell packs... might be a little heavy, but that will be ok, because its not intended for a 3d setup...lol

Steve I've got one of these stashed under my workbench, I'll be keeping an eye on what you decide to do also. I'd rather not invest a lot in mine either, so I may go with a somewhat stock setup.
Keep in mind, the full scale versions aren't really hot rods either!

vax6335:A few of the kids in my RC youth club "Mullet Marauders" are egg'in me on two get it( their fly'in 4 Ch this year), I'll go on and order it and do my darn'dis to keep her light by use'in white gorillla glue (weightless when cured)and spilt bamboo, like I do my chuncker builds, Fly'in mullet's have been a problem lately and we in our club strive to keep the sky's over our fare Hamlet, (Shadeville.Fl.)clear of the most vile fish,( unless their smoked with crackers and hot-sauce), And a A10 may help get the low one's dart'in for the coast,,, yet, I degress,,,, thanks , your bub, steve

My 10 year old rebuilds crashed planes. And when he got ready for his 1st solo flight he insisted on takin up a rebuilt Stryker. LOL And got it up and down successfully. Now I don't even stand near him when he flys and Chellie said last Sun. as we watched him fly that he was becoming a really good R/C pilot.
