Sam and I discussed how long this project has been rolling along a pathway that seems endless. After three
hospitalizations, loss of a spouse, residence construction issues, and now Covid-19 threats on a daily basis
it appears to be back on track. As Sam finishes mounting shop LEDs there is light at the far end of this tunnel.

Hope this post finds all of you well and hunkered down as the virus appears to be raging again. Stay safe! I will be working
on printable components for a while. One of the most elusive items has been the optical sight and radar emitter on the nose.
Below is the latest effort using a new software to create the .stl file.



The entire cockpit is getting a refresh. Will post more as it gets updated. It needs to widen about 3/4 of an inch.

Wheel inserts permit use of less than scale wheels and the end result looks correct. Its not that anyone is going to actually CNC scale wheels. Printing is the only way to go.

The individual CNC cut wheel segments are Hysol'd into the above insert which is an insert within the Williams Bros wheel.

I guess the newest thing is to have a 3D printer. They have great utility. I saw a device that was used to connect behind the ear masks so that they went around the head. I asked the nurse wearing the mask where she got it and she said a friend printed them on a 3D printer.

Did you purchase one of these printers? If so after you print out all your wheels, you can go into the vase business.

We already have an UP3D CNC printer. It is the printer we are using for parts within a 5 cubic inch range like the wheel and cockpit components.


The Creality was purchased to make fuselage mold sections and obviously components larger than 5 cubic inches. This new printer is ultimately more accurate and faster than CNC milling.


In one third the time it takes to mill fuselage sections, the completed mold (female) can be printed. I have spent the last nine months working on our A6's; gathering to-be-printed and vacuum formed components.

Navigating this project and enterprise startup has seen an unbelievable degree of distraction documented across the three B-47 threads.

The three threads are a progression in development from day 1. Each deals with a completely different element of the B-47 project...Why, Research, Development, and Assembly.

There are several lateral posts where review of the original workup can contribute to a viewers understanding. This, instead of posting in a single thread, this permits reader to follow a natural progression while retaining capability to retrieve information referenced downstream. Imagine this a thread with footnotes.

There have been only three B-47 models successfully flown.

References to each and the accumulative knowledge base are within these threads...the thread itself is the result of multiple (20+) failures.

I was fortunate Ian Dawson shared his Lightning bifurcation CAD image. He sent it as a Sketchup export and it suffered the typical conflicts
from an export out of Fusion. It rearranged the axis center point off center and restricted rotation. Because I was reverse engineering it was
overcome when portions were deleted and saved in the final configuration.

Just an update:
Hope this finds thread followers still social distancing and wearing masks. As we enter Fall and Winter, the traditional flu season, it is more important ever before to do your best to protect each other...not just your self. Remember you can carry something...not necessarily CV-19 into a friend's or relative's life space.

It is a constant battle we need to follow through with!! After my health issues two years ago I avoid all but absolutely necessary retail environments... including Dr. offices. You should check to see if your doctors conduct virtual appointments.

Sam has made considerable headway finishing the shop. Its wired, well lite, insulated, and ready for work tables. All environmentally sensitive items are in the basement office. It has rained an unusual amount this year. If it were not for our being on top of a mountain we might be treading water.

Enough babble for now. Thought I would say hi. Will get back on the B-47 shortly.

Seems the smaller the parts the slower this project progresses.. For those unaware, no you can not simply print an ejection seat...



This is a MB-7 ejection seat. It is for our A6's but shares similar parts if I print them for the B-47...which I am beginning to consider over the CNC cut one's... or combining the two because what you can see is what counts and everything else is called "weight". Yes, I have all the individual parts in .stl. For example the ejection rails provide a great strength to the entire seat once it is placed into the cockpit.
