Default FAA say's don't post youtube vids...they are commercial used of drones.

The FAA is at it again,

news reports a pilot who posts his videos on youtube is crossing the private use to commercial use boundaries of drone.WHAT!!!!!!!

the pilot and poster of the vids received a letter from the FAA to cease posting videos do to the add's that pop up on his videos that none of us have any control of. they also are grasping for straws to control fpv/uav quads if they think we are getting paid to allow those add's to pop up. they won't be able to in force this on the public and must not have given it much thought before sending the letter.

the news report and person who spoke on behave of the pilot both were saying the FAA is wrong and they were very positive of the rights we have to be flying, videoing, and youtubeing our quad flights. i just wonder if this will hit the main stream news channels.[i would post a link but my computer is messing with my head when i try to copy and post links]

they also didn't say anything about safety in the letter,so it's strictly about a issue of they're not having kept up with the growth of the personal use of quads by hobbyists .

just thought i share this development as the news has more stories every day about drones.

has anyone else seen the audi car commercial where people are under attack by quads that are swarming......they guys says his line just like Alfred Hitchcocks movie "the bird's" he says"walk very slow so they don't see ......[everyone runs away screaming...lol]" very freaky to think they use a controversial subject to sell cars.

This should be interesting.

Here is an alleged copy of the letter, or one of the letters.

My take on this is if I do not have a yootoob channel and have not established a revenue agreement or contract, this should not apply.

it's not commercial use,the flyer/pilot doesn't collect any money. the running of pop up adds by youtube generate money for the advertiser and FAA decided the whole presentation was one production complete with money making applications.someones earning a living thru those adds.

like i say,They are miss informed if they think i have anything to do with those popup add's and maybe youtube should find a better way to display add's under my videos and not on top of them. i hate those add's when they get in the way of a really cool video and block my view of whats playing.i delete them as quickly as they pop up.

that letter sure looks like a regular letter of rules that doesn't specifically say don't fly anymore mr hanes.

If that were true than everyone who posts a video on an unpaid YT account would be guilty of commercialism. The only difference between a quad mounted camera and a camera you hold in your hand is that one flies.

Does this include RC planes or is it just multi-rotors?

Also, they neglect to mention this about their "nothing to worry about technology". Check this out!http://www.forbes.com/sites/andygree...e-wheel-video/

I believe the purpose of the FAA letter is to inform....rather than reprimand.

You guy's need to understand that now "professional" commercial (for profit) UAV has become an independent industry, and the bad representation the media has placed on "drones" ..........has finally caught up with the entire perception of "drones".

The Pro's who have spent thousands to get certified and FAA approved have had it with amateurs who continously mis-represent products they may also be promoting or using for commercial purposes.

Anyone can challenge the validity of the claims made within a public domain broadcasted video, that elude to specifics that cannot be proven. Just like "copyright" issues, which shut down a "drone" site domain on YouTube in December of 2014.....due to a challenge made by Attornies representing a legit commercial UAV service......

The other issue that will continue to be challenged relates to the legal and safe use of "drones" as a "hobby"..........and the public domain host who broadcasts the material will be forced to make changes to their protcol or suffer the consequences from the FAA and other professional "certified" UAV organizations.....remember, once money is involved (now big money) the stakes become higher......especiallly if it is determined "copyright" or FAA hobby "regulations" have been unlawfully disregarded.......!

The whole "drone" thing has now grown teeth.........there is no way the UAV commercial industry is going to continue to allow those who mis-represent their business interests.....especially now that they can afford to hire experienced Attorny's who are aligned with the FAA to make this industry profitable..........

It was only a matter of time before the idiots were going to be called out.....it's one very effective way (although expensive) to start gaining some gound on the negitive perception that has hurt the Pro's due to bad press and poor mis-representation the retailers and some manufactures, (as well as) those trying to attain fame or compensation under the premiss as a "public service", where "here's my un-boxing and review", "here's my DJI flight" videos continue to mis-represent legalities and safe operation that the entire legit industry must adhere to...!

AdSense, Google, and Youtube.

Youtube user, if signed up to a Montnization (SP) then he/she has to follow ALL rules noted by youtube.

You think some of those ads are being of youtube and ad sense?

DO you think the people you email also have something to do with it as well??

Personally thinking out loud. DO something stupid like driving 10 minutes uncut video that takes 60 minutes, you'll get a Knock at your door!

You. are being Monotored by Big Brother, and not a thing you can do about that since opening day of the Net early 90's

Here's one of the sites that goes into detail related to the OP's original post....:

http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/dr...sting-youtube/

The videos related to the illegal commercial use of UAV are posted there.....some have been taken down by YouTube......and will continue to be challenged by industry experts......the process is evolving. Eventually, the "gray" area of the freedom of press, copyright authorization, patened pending and what constitutes "hobby" vs. commercial use will be sorted out once enough high end challenges become common place......domains like YouTube will eventually be required to protect themselves from liability if the stakes grow high enough to effect their ability to make money.....

Hanes told me that his videos are technically "monetized" on YouTube but that he has never received a payment from Google and the revenue he's technically earned from Google’s ads is less than a dollar.

the article at a site. Like said at the start.

Nodd one of our members does a good job explaining it in this video. You get paid something a 1 cent per view if you agree to have advertising. I clicked off the okay for advertising I don't upload enough to even consider getting paid per view.
