Default help with putting lipos in super cub

My wife got me a sc for a birthday present.

I have 2 lipo's 7.4v 1300 mah 20c Can I just use these in the cub without doing anything to the esc. I realize the esc will detect the lipo but what about the cut off level for the battery.

Gramps I don't own a SC so I can't comment for certain but I do not think the ESC is lipo compatible. You can probably run one ok but the low voltage cutoff won't happen at the right time if you run it too low.

As long as you don't fly it too long it won't hurt it. You just have to be aware of your times.

Lipos should not go below 3.0v/cell under load or ~ 3.7v/cell resting.
The Cub DOES have a jumper that can be removed to make it 3S lipo compatible-a better performance upgrade anyway. See the jumper here:

Don't remember where the LVC for NiMh is but it'll be lower than the 2S lipo (probably ~ 5v) so flying to LVC will kill your lipos. If you fly ~80% of your current Nimh time, land and check the voltage and do small adjustments you can get away with it as long as your voltage is > 7.4v when you land.
There is no adjustment for 2S LVC. There is no replacement without replacing everything.

Don't expect a big performance boost-likely modest at best if at all.

Hey thanks to both of ya. It was a thought to try it since i have these kicking around. Instead of playing with it I think i'll just leave it nihm's for now. Have other plane that i use these in.

Parkzone - a LOT of their stuff is proprietary. Folks love their Cub until they start running up against the limitations of the electronics. They are decent for a newbie application but ultimately cheap and frustrating. Change anything but the motor and you have to change everything.

That site I pointed you at is largely about flying, then modding the Cub. It's a good resource. Do some reading there. Pretty much any question you think to ask has been asked a couple hundred times about that plane.
