Thumbs up Hobby Topgun 90mm Mig 15 (the BIG ONE)

Having a blast flying the Mig 15. Had some excitement along the way with 2 burnt ESC's and one shredded fan but it is all worth it. You won't find an easier flying EDF and it flies very realistically on a cheap 1900kv Prodesign motor in a freewing 90mm fan. Turnigy DLUX 100A ESC handles the power draw (about 1700watts) and Turnigy 6S 5000mah 45-90C Nano-tech battery. I set a timer for 4 minutes then land. Burn is approximately 4000mah using mixed power. It will fly on less power as the wing area is huge but with my setup it will leap off the runway in about 60' with no wind. It can handle grass with the large HTG wheels without effort.
This is not the machine for those wanting absolute speed as it is a BIG airframe. At top speed you can sometimes notice slight oscillation of the wing tips as the wing is long and flexible. Doesn't affect the flight or stability at all. It flies straight as a pattern ship and lands like a large trainer.
I've added 2 arrow shaft spars for strength, as the wing is known to fail if built stock. The landing gear mounts are actually quite good and didn't need any beefing up. I'm using flyfly clone air type retracts and have shortened the HTG struts by about 1". Give a nice stance and provides less leverage for ripping out on hard landings. Used HTX900 servos all round except put metal gear type on the flaps. The rudder only had the bottom half operating so I modified it by making the top half work as well.
Highly recommended (if your car is big enough)!

Wow! So jealous! The Mig-15 is one of my favorites, and to hear this is an actually easy to fly edf, well... Too bad I just got that Turbojet. Well, this one will go on the wish list.

Thanks for sharing it with us!

Checked the speed on this bad boy with the RCSpeedo app.
80mph/129kph average speed (with and without the wind). Not that much slower than my other 90mm EDF's. Just the bigger size makes it look somewhat slower.
F-86 90mph
L-39 85mph
