WF Scratchbuild Contest #1 Rules & Entries
#76

Check out this beauty.
Description from the designer/builder:
I've seen video of this plane flying and it looks very nice in the air. The competition has really stiffened as we near the 1 month to go mark.
Frank
Description from the designer/builder:
This is my Foamy Trainer, made from One sheet of 20" x 30" x 1/2" foam Board, it has a Turnigy 2830 outrunner bell motor, 9x4.7 prop, 1200mah 3 cell LiPo, 2.9 gram Hextronic servos, and a 30 amp esc. The wing has a lot of dihedral that makes it fly level when you let go of the sticks.

I left the paper on the foam board, but it can be removed to save some weight, I used krylon short cuts red spray paint on the tail, I used krylon short cuts yellow on the wing stripe, and i used orange Monokote trim tape, I used yellow trim tape on the fuselage stripe.

Hmm, now that I'm finally done my B-2 build, maybe I'll have to throw my hat into the ring. I'll see what materials and parts I have laying around.
Entries are looking great so far. Hmm, those glasses in the Easy Flyer pictures sure look familiar. Oh wait, shhhh...

I just started a new build and wondered if I should include it here, not sure if it would qualify.
It is the Diamond DA20. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_DA20
It is a popular full scale trainer, must admit not seen many low wing r/c trainers. It will be 4 channel, but can leave ailerons unplugged and taped in neutral position for the sake of keeping it three channel to coincide with contest rules. Will be full fuse and full skinned wings, so not sure it would be the best first build, but likely would be a good first r/c trainer. Kind of like a progressive training system, when you feel competent, remove tape from ailerons and plug them into receiver and you have a good aerobatic 2nd plane.

I'm sorry, but I will have to bow out on this one. I will be seeing several Doctors in the next few weeks, and I will have way too many restrictions on my time to work on a model. (Have to get all of the years "to do" lists done in case I need surgery)
Good luck to those who remain in the contest. It looks like a lot of fun. I got the test mule about half built, and corrected the plans so that everything would fit together. I will complete the project later in the year, and post it just for grins.
THanks to everybody who organized this contest and donated the prizes. It was a great kickstart to get me back to the building board with one of my own designs.
