I just had to buy a nuclear powered rack mount guitar tuner! Couldn't see the old pedal one on stage anymore when the lights go down, and yes it does light up, but the light has gotten weaker as it has gotten older. Darn LEDs!
That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

On the top of his car.

Nasty, now, but back then, a new transmitter was three or four months rent.

"Hi there, say do you know where I can buy some dope?"
The kid sort of looks around and says
"Hey we are a hobby shop, we don't sell drugs"
He did look a little uncomfortable, until I left.

On the serious side, my dad and I bought 'Dope' by the gallon, at the local Fuller paint store, they stocked it because, they were only about a mile from a small incity airfield.
I still keep a small bottle in my hobby room, just so I can remove the top and 'smell the old days'.

Then, picked up an Astroflight Cobalt Brush type motor that was an order of magnitude better than those motors from work.
Now, even the bottom of the line brushless motors from you know where far outperform those Astro motors.
Still have several of those Astro motors. For that matter, still have an old OS 58 glow engine from the late 1950's and a few other glow engines. They've not been run in 15 years. My Hacker A50 motors have far more horsepower than that old OS 58 engine. The Hackers turn a 15 inch prop, that OS engine turned an 11 inch prop.

Yup, I did that back in the mid 1980's by rewinding some motors from work for sailplane use. They worked OK, but the brushes were a limiting factor on how much power they'd put out.

Very impressive... yes it's a basic no frills Kaos 60 that I picked up for $99 shipped back in the late 90's... been sitting in the box for a few years, ha!

Haha, that's a good one! Just be careful when zipping up. So I take it going to the washroom gets costly when older one gets older. Think I'll have to budget that into my life at some point, along with ex lax when I can't go, and pepto when I go too well.

Yup, I did sell three of my Astro geared motors. Two Geared 40's and one geared 25.
When moving to our new home ten years ago, I tossed out a motor I rewound with a gearbox made with a drill press and a file. Dang, wish I still had that thing for the memories. Do have a photo of it though.
