i was going to chime in, but Dave said it all. except that if you want to have the ability to switch your lights on and off and dim them in flight from your transmitter, wire your lights thru a BRUSHED E.S.C. then plug it in to a channel on your radio with a knob for dimmer, or a switch for on-off, more detailed instructions are on the links Dave gave you.

Default BasicBlinker from Wasatch RC

I checked out every link on this thread and no one has posted a link to this.
They have everthing you need for night flying in one stop.
LED strips, and the Basic Blinker. As far as I know this is the only place you can get one.
All you have to do to control you lights is hook it up the lead to your reciever.
You can change your light patterns on the fly! Or you can pre-program a lighting sequence.

Web site

Basic Blinker Rev 1.1 The Basic Blinker Rev 1.1 is an electronic module which provides 16 different blinking patterns consisting of five output channels. The active blinking pattern can be selected using a radio transmitter, or configured using a binding plug. The current limit is one amp per channel, for a total of five amps. Wires for the battery connection and lights can be soldered directly to the module, or terminal blocks can be purchased (available separately), allowing for easy wiring changes.
