Thumbs up SOMETIMES...This job ain't bad

Yesterday I got to go up onto "Vultures row" and watch 2 french Rafale fighters from the Charles de Galle get trapped on deck and then be launched back into the sky! I hung around to watch some of our F-18 C/E/F/G's trap and finally our E-2C. Something cool about live carrier ops....

I ran up to watch the Tomcats launch as often as possible.

I was gonna say 'you lucky ba$t...', but it's not luck. You've earned it by serving in the Navy for us. Glad to hear you got to enjoy that. I assumed that's the first thing anyone on a carrier would do when they got the chance, and then it got old for them or something!

Hope I'm not creating some kind of security breach or anything, but I just saw this:

The Aviationist

Maybe these are the same Rafale's you watched?

LOL, the ships system will NOT let me watch it. It gives me a security warning.
But then again, any video is blocked due to band width. Oh, to be able to Youtube again. I know I will be on this site when I get home so I can catch up on all the crap Nigel has posted.

On a side note, they had the Charles De Gaulle about 1000 yds off the Port side doing their flight ops, I went out to watch that too...

Strange, it's not a video, just a couple of photos and a short article. Ironic you're out doing security sensitive things and they won't let you see possibly yourself when all of us can!

Yeah thank you for your service guys/gals. It's never said enough.

Best I get, not a job, but being near the airport I get to see the aggressor squadron birds on occasion. They are based here, and head out waiting for the birds from MacDill AF base come up to play.

I was in Navy aviation electronics in VF154, and I always took the flight deck duty when the squadron was on the carrier ( USS Coral Sea ) back in 63 - 65 ... I was a trouble shooter. Awesome duty standing about 20 feet from an F4 Phantom or F8U Crusader on the catapult !!.. Night ops where the best, you just had to not have your head up your ass 100% of the time.
