For such a small country Latvia has a hell of a war history.

Hitlers crack divisions that sieged Leningrad and Stalingrad ended up here just north of my house .... Hitler refused to evacuate them and they died resisting the Red Army.

Lots of small airfields were created by Luftwaffe as well as Soviets ... being the most western part of Soviet Empire. For Luftwaffe - they could harass Russia. Once Russians pushed them out - it was strategic for East vs West.

Believe it or not she is STILL flying and performing every bit as good as ever ...

Slight mishap here though ... should have known better than put Nanotechs in !! One went down and cut out one motor ... she nosed in with me trying to get her nose up but no deal !

She survived with just a crease in the fuselage at the LE wing joint .. will just need a bit of warmth and straighten out ... nothing to worry about.

I had removed the battery pairing lead as its a pain when connecting up. But it will go back in now OR maybe I will look at a larger single pack ... to avoid this again.

But anyway ............... she still has everyone stop and watch ... magic !

Glad to see it Nigel! Sorry to hear about the little mishap but glad to see it was easily fixed. I guess there's a reason those were renamed crap-o-techs!

My XF5U I built for the contest is still going strong too. I had to buy new batts recently as the power was noticeably reduced and what a boost the new batts provided! I've found I can't really do really fancy stuff in the air with the differential thrust (probably a better pilot can!) But it's really useful for taxiing.

Twin 1600 4S packs runs about 360gr ... a single 2700 4S about 290gr ...

So I think I will invest in a single 3000 - 3300 pack that matches the twin weight ... save rebalancing her.

+1! Wish I had more time to build my own, but I appreciate them all. Cheap, expensive, big, small, whatever!

I do wonder how many of the other contestant models are still flying ? The Concorde .... and my Tu144 .......... are still flying in original build ...

Concorde still today causes a stir when she rolls out .... makes me proud I have to say.

My EE Canberra (30mm EDFs) is still flown regularly. Indeed I hope to take it to a club scale day 'fly in' in a few days!
The Vampire (40mm EDF) is still flyable but its un-doped tissue is limited to warm dry days only. The 'follow on' true scale all Depron DH Venom (40mm EDF) has no such limitations!

Well its 23 April 2016 and to be honest she's lasted longer than I ever expected ...

Not models fault ... MINE !

I put the lipo's in wrong. My battery space allows me to put larger in if I want... but the regulars should be pushed forward under the top-deck. Guess what .. yep - I didn't push those two 1600 4S packs forward and she was seriously tail heavy .. so much so that you could not control her.

Anyway ... back home she has a new nose and front section being grafted on to live and fight another day.

I think if I ever built another ... I'd go for twin 30 or 40mm EDF's each side and not the fat 50's I have used. Its 4 EDF's but then its shallower ducts etc.

Have you seen Windriders Concorde with (4) 70's? I'll send a vid.

Post # 723: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...544490&page=49

Looks pretty good. There was also some chatter about a twin 80mm with (2) dummy engine pods

4 x 40mm EDF Concorde is not that easy - so little thrust!

She's just getting her new blue stripes and cockpit lining - then shes ready to fly again. This time I will WRITE inside her battery position !

Just watched the Windrider video - to be honest she appeared under-powered but nice looking. Shame about the second takeoff.

I do think about building another but more round and scale like ... but its way down my build list at moment.
Because I'm just finishing fine points of my auto foam cutter - Vulcan is on my priority list as well as a 3D version of the Acro-Wot.

Sorry to hear about your crash, but I'm glad she'll be back in the air. I've started writing battery size and position in mine, as well. I have enough models that, when enough time passes, I forget what battery goes where.

Today dragged out my old Fun Concorde and re-glued hatch etc.

She's a bit rough round the edges now - but still flyable. She will get another chance next flight session ...

When I tested the motors ... I'd forgotten what those twin alloy EDF's on 4S sounded like !! Music to the ears....
