I almost didnt post this because Im pushing the motor way way beyond any reasonable limits.

But then I thought - being stupid isnt against the rules and besides - watts is watts

But fair warning - dont try this at home!

The Eagle Tree logger shows the results of going from 10S to 12S on a system that was somewhat over-propped even at 10S.

On 10S this setup was peaking around 2600 watts on a full charge.

On 12S I hit just over 4000 watts just after take off - even after several minutes of messing around with short motor runs and despite very cold weather - in the mid 30's and having cold packs!

The setup is as follows:

Hacker A60-20M (the motor is only rated to 2200 watts)
Castle Creations HV140 esc
12S1P 5000 mahr Hyperion CX packs
Prop is a Mejzlik 24x12 3 blade hollow carbon

Peak watts = 4057 watts

The model is (was) a giant scale take off on my Capricorn design. I wont go into details but it wasnt a very successful design. The flight (and the model) lasted about 20 seconds into its third flight.

But hey! I hit 4kW!

Very nice! But, did your Hacker survive? (I've got a Hacker A60-16M, waiting for the snow to go away.)

The Plane: 15 yr old highly bashed Kadet Sr. towplane
The Motor: Turnigy C6364-280
The Prop: Zinger 18x10
The Batteries: Two 5s 5000ma (10s)
The ESC: CC Phoenix 85HV

Plane had about three flights before I had a receiver failure and it went in. Not much damage, quite fixable so will fly again and receiver went to HH for testing. The setup was very very nice. This plane has barn door flaps and ailerons. Crow is great fun for demo's. Hauls up to 120" gliders on a carriage on top. Never buy a used receiver

Just put the first three flights today on my Hacker A60-16M motor with 19x12 APC-E prop, 12S2P A123 cells, Extra 330 model with 78 inch wing, 1200 square inches, weight 17 pounds. The attached screen dump from the CC ICE 80 amp HV ESC shows maximum of 2660 watts.

After getting the elevator throw tamed down and centered, it flew very well. Power is NOT an issue, this thing climbed at 60 degrees and kept on going.

So, I'd like the 2 KW note on my page.

Hi Chellie
Any danged fool can see the model plane is better looking!

At least now the snow is gone, and flying is getting going around here.

First of February, two months after this photo was taken, there was 4 feet of snow in this driveway!
