Default Distance To You?

I was thinking/hoping that there could be a way to search for planes that are for sale by having the option to search for planes that are for sale by allowing users to search by distance from you.

In other words, instead of clicking on and opening each For Sale thread, I could make a couple clicks and now view all the planes for sale starting at the shortest distance and then going farther away.

Could that be an option WF could implement?

Thanks,

Frank

I think that is a good idea. If it is possible I think that would be a great addition to WATTFLYER.

Well if the poster has his location in his profile, then that is somewhat a clue as to how far.

That's true, but you would still have to open the thread to see of that's the case. With this option you can search for sales close to you without clicking to open the thread.

Just to chime in again, I have found many of the members have very little information about themselves, as location, etc. I guess I can understand that with the state of the world today.

That would be a Mike or Marc thing Frank. I'll link them to the thread.

This would require that people put their information in their profile. As you can see, most do not and for Members privacy concerns, we don't want to pull information from the DB that forces this.

I will look in to adding a searchable field that someone has the Option to list their City State, but again, it is optional and I don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze.

I think if there is a reason for folks to do so, they just might. I know another forum did the same thing and folks realized the benefits for listing their location.

Mike, you back again? Bill said you had retired.

Why cant there be a zip/postal code box below the title box that can be filled in if you want to? This would only apply to the swap/buy/sell/trade forums.

It would make a sort by distance engine very easy to build. Folks who are concerned about me knowing where they live could just leave it blank, and then just tell me when I ask.
