This had happened to me once a few years ago with a glow plane. I guess I forgot, and right before dusk the wind dropped below 10 mph for the first time since I bought the plane. Was inverted once and flew down below tree level out of sight. Reversed elevator and it popped back up. Even then, I couldn't really tell if it was getting closer or farther for a moment or two. Just lucky to get it back! Whew!
I have put bright stickers on the bottom for day flying, but dark is, well, dark.
The sotck paint on the Stryker makes it very hard to see in most low light conditions. I put Florscent Orange stripes on the belly of mine. It will help alot.

One of the most tried and true steups here has been a Meag 16-15-4 on a 6X4 or 6X5.5 ACP prop. Most guys will run a CC 25 AMP ESC. You could use the 16-15-3 motor but you will have to run a smaller prop, you will go fast but loose some verticle. The Stryker seems to hit a wall at around 100 MPH it's vrey hard to get her faster than that. The Stryker is very fun at 70 to 80 MPH too. Thats about whare I run mine. If you really really want to go FAST get a pylon racer or a hotliner. I have seen some pylon ships above 150 MPH, now thats fast!!

I think you can get the Mega from hobby-lobby.com
The Himax is here....
http://www.maxxprod.com/mpi/mpi-262.html

The Himax is 79 bucks and the Mega is like 89 bucks. Get a 25 AMP ESC min. you may want to get a 35 AMP just so you dont over heat it in the summer months. I like to run a bigger ESC.

They have the Warp 4 - 4 turn on sale for $54.95. Its a Mega 16/15/4 clone. I know people who like that motor, personally I have never used one. I waited for a Mega to pop up for sale used and snagged it...

Thumbs up Replacement Airframe for Stryker F27B (PK1270)

Hi just a quick post for any UK members looking at this post .
The Sussex Modeling Club In the UK will have the replacement airframe (PKZ1270) for the stryker F27B in stock from early february.
Price 59.99 GBP.
it has everything you will need exept radio gear and motor/speedo.
below is a link to parkzone so you can have a look at it. its a bit dearer than the $89.99 USD price but still a bit cheaper than importing it yourself. http://parkzone.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=PKZ1270

cheers.

The above is another source for the Mega 16/15/4, along with a lot of other motors. They, also, have the Stryker fuse for $19.95
http://www.atlantahobby.com/shopdisp...asp?Search=Yes
Stryker parts. EDIT: OK, there seems to be a problem with this link. Sometimes it works and sometimes it is blank. If you find it blank, just type in "stryker" in the search box at the top of the page and hit search. That will get you there. Sorry.

I finally got a Mega 16/15/4 and upgraded from my BP-21. This is much faster and gotta stay sharp and respond quick or big time bust-em!

Default My new Stryker build has been started!!!

This time I'm going lite rather than Glassing. Don't get me wrong I love my glassed Stryker. It's stiffer than a surf board and has handeling thats razor sharp. But this time I wanted to go lite and fast. I'll be taking the gear out of the glassed one and installing it in the new one. The set up is as follows...........

2815/3000 KV Himax 5X3 ACP
40 AMP E-Flight ESC
Electron 6 Receiver
2100 3 cell Lipo
Du Bro Control rods with steel clevises.
HS-81 servos [non MG] I find the stock gears have worked fine and have outlasted 2 other Stryker airframes.
Custom Elevons [provided by rahtware, thanks buddy] These elevons are a work of art. I'll post pix of them later after I shoot some. These also have a balsa TE epoxied to the foam TE. However I have yet to install them. Rahtware also cut the hinge slots with his new electric slotting tool, very nice. They will be installed with CA hinges.

I installed a CF piece of flat stock in my Stryker wing last night. this CF flat stock is 1/8" wide and 38 inches long I dont recall the exact thickness. I may be 1/32nd thick. It is put in the wing vertically so it offers 0 flex in the wing. I mounted it in a arch wingtip to wingtip and arches to just behind the cut outs for launching.. This tip came from an old time Stryker jocky, Av8er48. He was here flying Strykers with us early pioneers way back in the day,Thanks again Av8er48!

After marking the foam with a marker I cut it with an exacto blade, then I ended up using my pen type iron and melted a shallow gusset to put the flat rod in. After I laid it into the gusset I taped it to hold it in place and I used a hammer, yes I said a hammer to embed it deeper into the foam. It worked better than I thought it would. Then I ran foam safe CA along each side of the CF flat stock and hit it with CA accelerator. I will go over it again with some epoxy also just to be sure it stays put.

I think It will work very well and keep it lite at the same time. Sorry no pictures yet, maybe in a day or two I can post them.

Duster, (Splatz, Foamiebill or anyone else using a outrunner) I just got a Stryker replacement fuse kit and I plan on mounting either a BP-21 type motor (the one I have has a cover and mount affixed) or a Esskay 400XT outrunner and I'm struggling over the mount. Coupld you possibly show me a close up of your mount?

What props are y'all running?

Thanks!

ETA, Splatz, I just saw yours... Very nice! I have no metal skills at all but I guess it could not hurt to try. Where does one get the aluminum plate to work with?

How much would you charge to send me one? (Seriously!)

Wanna sell me one?

Seriously! :o

Thanks.

I flew the stock B model all last summer and loved it. Now I'm looking to upgrade to the lipo prop and 3 cell lipo in order to get longer flight times and a little bit more power. Is this the right way to go??

Does anybody have a lipo they're interested in selling to help me get going?

Thanks!

I'm sorry but I have talked to sooo many people on set ups. I just didn't recall which motor you picked. I usually suggest either the Mega 16-15-4 or my Himax 2815-2000 or 2815-3000. On the 3000 KV motor I run a 5X3 prop and on the Mega or The 2000 KV I sugest a 6X5.5 for top speed or a 6X4. The old gray matter isn't as good as it use to be, he he. I could have went back through the posts but many times I'm checking in while I'm at work and just don't have the time. I hate when that darn work thing gets in my way!!

Default I can't believe I found/made time to work on my Stryker!!

Here is the belly shot and picture of the elevons. I covered them in Chrome Duct Tape, yes I know it's heavy. It should show up real nice in the sky!!! I saw this paint job on another plane. I just knew I'd like it on a Stryker. This plane can be hard to see when it gets far away, and it's worse near dusk so this should really help!! I also put a 1/8 inch wide Flat carbon spar mounted verticaly in an arch wing tip to wing tip. It is almost as stiff as my Fiber Glassed Stryker but much lighter. I don't have a scale so I'll have to try to get some weights of each of them.

Now I just have to figure out what to put on the top, Hummmmm.
