Default BEC question

Hi! It's been a while!

I'm converting one of my 30cc gassers to electric and I think I'm going to go with a single powersource setup on this one. I normally go with a separate TX battery, but I have a nice 20A Castle BEC sitting around, so why not use it?

Anyway, it's going to be an 8s system (2x 4s). Would you feed the BEC from one or two of the batteries? In other words, should I feed it the full 33V (which I'm pretty sure it can handle) or just 16.8V from one of the batteries? Any concerns that they're being discharged unevenly?

*DUH* That question would have been easy to answer had I read the specs. Output current drops drastically with higher input voltage, so I'll feed it 16.8V.

If it were me, on something as large as a 30cc gasser conversion with an 8s pack, I would definitely use a separate Rx pack.

Dido, very good advice if you value your plane.

Yeah, you're right. I just figured I should use that BEC for something. Granted, it's a pretty old and beat-up plane, but it still flies amazing (3DHobbyshop 72" Extra)
