Blade 400 training gear

What I did was go the corner hardware store and I bought a package of "zip-ties" and two thin dowels, about 3/16" or so. I cut them down to about the diameter of the rotor and then I had some golf-ball sized whiffle balls that I used. Cross the dowels at their center point and use two zip ties to secure this so you have an "X" and then using more zip ties, secure the balls near the ends of the dowels. I used a zip tie on the inside and the outside of each whiffle ball..
I mounted the dowels to the heli skids with zip ties around the dowel and the skids and lined it up so that the "x" was right under the main rotor shaft so the balance would be right.
This worked quite well and after about 6 or 8 flights, I was able to remove them and just fly with the skids. I was not a new pilot--I had flown a CP Pro for a year so that is all the time I needed to get the feel for this heli.
I could post a picture, if you need it, but I think you should get the idea.

Thanks jim
I had a helimax axe for about a year I really never got
it to fly very well. I hope this is better. You had told me about a jr 285 servo pack
where is a good place to buy. will the stock servos work I'm not looking for 3-d
flying just happy to move about. I fly airplanes most of the time for the past 3 years
This is something I'm looking to take my time with.

I know that Horizon Hobby sells the JR servo pack. These are much better servos than the stock servos. They are faster and they center a whole lot better than the stock servos. It was the BEST $185 that I have spent on my helis. In fact. this is the ONLY upgrade that I have done to my B400 other than get 2200 mAh batteries for it.

The best advise I can offer is to go here:
http://www.dream-models.com/eco/flying-index.htm
and read this over and follow it! It is a great approach to flying
a helicopter. This is what I did to start with and it really helped a lot.
Go Slow!!! Baby steps.......don't get ahead of your learning curve--that's when things
happen and you don't have the reflexes developed to react correctly and BAM!!
Take it slow and be careful!!!
Good luck
