Default E-Flite P-47

I found one in a hobby shop - are these "rare" since discontinued?

They are getting that way.....

And it's sad....apparently E-Flite (Horizon) doesn't care that this plane has a huge following, and they could still make money on them.

Sometimes I wonder if they really care about making what we, the modelers, fliers, customers want.

Larry,
I think they are getting pretty hard to find.
I had a "Want-to-Buy" thread up for a few weeks and didn't get any hits. And thats AFTER I searched for a while on the internet.

btw, is the store price still $79?

If you're looking to buy one "brand new"...Yes, they're VERY difficult to find. I've never seen a bad review for this bird, yet they decided to discontinue her, regardless of her outstanding track record. If you can find one, especially BRAND NEW, I would snatch her up...QUICK!!

Really, what should happen, is a mass e-mailing to Horizon from anyone and everyone that loves this plane, asking what they are thinking.......

I think if worded correctly, it might actually have some affect...even if not on this particular plane, Horizon or E-Flite might actually inquire from it's customers, on whether or not we want them to continue making a particular model, or what our thoughts would be on discontinuing a model. I actually think it's worth a shot!

I saw it advertised recently on the Hobby Town web site, but it didn't give the price or availability. I am going to check with the local Hobby Town and see if they can order it. I would hate to miss the chance to own it.

It must be that it didn't sell well enough. They are still punching out Super Cubs, right?

Yep, it was $79, plus 8.3% sales tax. I had it in my hot little hands but put it down because I was concerned about getting replacement parts if it is discontinued.

Well that's the thing...she seemed to have sold just fine!! At least that's my understanding from other forums.

I don't think it can be ordered friend. She's been discontinued for a while. I have doubts as to whether or not distributors have any left. When they were discontinued, they were a very sought after model. I wish you the best of luck aquiring one of these awesome models.

I'll continue searching for leads as to where people might be able to get one...if they're still out there.

Hey Angler, at the risk of having this sold out from under me here is a link to a Canadian distributor (Hobby Wholesale) that has it priced at $79.99 plus shipping (didn't order it- yet): http://www.hobbywholesale.com/catego...tegoryID=13861
I don't know if it will come back with an out of stock message if you try to order it. I may give it a try in a few weeks- I just blew my stash money on a TP 2409-12T, 32 Amp ESC, and a 1650 mAh 20C Lipo battery.

Default E-mailed Hobby Town customer service.

I just e-mailed Hobby Town about the E-Flite P47D Thunderbolt 400 ARF (EFL 6000) and asked them about its availability, pricing with shipping to my location, and whether E-Flite has discontinued production. No response yet, but it's early. I will post a copy of what they have to say once they respond. Hobby Town is a big distributor of E-Flite products, so if they can't give a straight answer then going straight to E-Flite is the next step. I will be happy to do that.

Bob

Kein problem (no problem) as they say in German. I did mention in my e-mail to Hobby Town, that the P-47D has an excellent reputation among RC enthusiasts for ease of assembly and excellent flying characteristics. I don't know if that will get any attention, but it can't hurt.

A Horizon employee on another forum said that the discontinuation of the P-47 wasn't primarily because of sales volume, but rather the termination of the contract with the manufacturer who molded the P-47 and the Cessna. IIRC, he said there was a possibility the P-47 might come back in the new "Z-foam" in the future. I'll see if I can find that info...

Thanks buzzbomber (are you a V-1?). That's interesting information. If it's coming back in a Z-foam variant that would be nice. Durable stuff. Of course that will up the price somewhat.

Default Latest update- bad

I just spoke with a representative of Hobby Town on the telephone and he confirmed what "everyone" was saying about the P-47D 400 ARF- discontinued. Their stores will try and order it if they can find another (Hobby Town) store with it in stock, but good luck. I will test order the Hobby Wholesale web site one and see what happens.

Smile Latest update- Good

I just broke down and commited to purchasing an E-Flite P-47D 400 ARF from the Canadian online vendor, Hobby Wholesale (www.hobbywholesale.com), for $79.99 by Canadian post (no charge according to the order even though the entry portion says "actual cost"). I just printed the invoice for my order so I'll let you know when and what shows up in the mail.

Nope.....I tried to click on Add To Cart and it comes up as Out of Stock.....

This is ludicrous..If it's discontinued, and out of stock, then stores should be removing the web pages.....

Wow, I didn't even think to add to cart, usually Hobbyzone says out of stock if a plane isn't in... interesting..
