You know where to get a 5-bladed prop???

A 5 blade prop wouldn't be much of a performance mod as their efficacies don't scale down well for model app's, even four's don't do to well,, bub, steve

i am thinking about going with a himax motor, what motor/gearbox would work best to keep this plane light but still have enough torque to fly this plane? I have a mega fast PKZ spitfire, i want this plane to be different, i don't need top speed but thrust would be nice.

Lt. Loughead swears by the Himax 2025-4200 and Cobri GB in his GWS sized warbirds, and after having tried this combo (w/ Himax GB instead of Cobri) in my ArtTech Corsair, I am a believer!

I use 6.6:1 gear reduction and spin a 3-bladed 11x6. It would be faster with 2 blades, but speed is better than scale and climbs are jaw dropping! I already have a second 2025 and I've ordered a Cobri GB with gatio of 6.3:1 that I will use in my Sea Fury (if I don't buy something else to put it in before its available). I will probably use the stock prop to start, but may go up an inch in diameter or try 4 blades just for looks. I would try 5 blades if anyone makes one, but I would probably gear it down a little further for that.

Maaaayyyybeee ... how much is it worth to you?

Charlie at Manzano Laser Works makes them. They hold five of the Flying Styro 9x7 prop blade ($1 ea. at Hobby Lobby). Here's a picture of it on Jeff's September Fury from Thunder Tiger: http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9295655

I'm planning on (hopefully) buying some of those hubs and the Thunder Tiger spinner for $4 that Jeff mentions in that post.

Oh, I know. I'm not looking for performance; I'm looking for scale. I enjoy flying it more when it looks like the real thing.

Thank's Dave! That is too cool

If I end up buying a Sea Fury, I will be ordering that prop hub and a handful of FSK blades the very same day!

Horizonhobby.com lists the Sea Fury as backordered with no estimated arrival date, but their sister site hobbyzone.com shows it in stock

B-P-P.com sells Himax motors and several gearboxes including Cobri. Great prices and free shipping too.

Hobby Zone (note the space between the two separate words, as distinguished from "HobbyZone") is an independent dealer, they are not owned by Horizon or an official outlet or anything like that.

Guess I just assumed they were since they pretty much just sell Horizon products, and they own the HobbyZone.com URL.

Talking Mine has shipped!

I received an email yesterday saying that my pre-order from Hobby Zone shipped yesterday. Fedex says delivery Monday:

Dear Richard,

Your order has been processed and shipped by FedEx: Ground (1-7 bsns days, depends on area).

Item Quantity Description Amount
---- -------- ----------- ------
EFL6050 1 Hawker Sea Fury 400 ARF - Preorder 109.99

I'll see how well it matches the pictures from the web site.

Mine arrived yesterday from Advantage Hobby. The outer box was bent and crushed thanks to UPS, and the retail box inside didn't look much better

But upon initial inspection, the precious cargo appears to be unscathed

Here's what's going in mine:
Himax 2025-4200 and Cobri 20 gearbox
PowerUp 32 amp ESC
PowerUp 3 amp UBEC
Sombra Labs Lepton 6 Rx
Dynam 8 gram sub-micro servos

I also got a 5 bladed prop kit and a scale vac formed spinner just for kicks

The wife and kids are going away for the weekend, so I'll have no excuses!

I'm hoping to pick up one of these beauties on Saturday

Incidentally, my P-51D flies better (faster) on 4 blades than 2

Go go go Doug!!!

You must have the wrong prop then.
