This motor, esc and lipo packs were used in my Great Planes 160 size Ultimate Biplane that I converted to electric power. Photos of this aircraft can be seen in the latest issue of Model Airplane News in the article about the Arizona Electric Festival in pages 70 & 71. The Ultimate weighed 16lbs and with this system, I could fly most manuevers at 1/2 throttle. Vertical performance was outstanding!

What kind of wattage did you get with this setup? and RPM?

I have forgotten the watts, but the RPM's were 9700. At full throttle, the Ultimate was very impressive and the crowds had a hard time believing that it was electric!

BTW, this power sytem is designed to fly a 22 lb aircraft with authority.

Thanks for the info Jerry...but I think 9700 RPM is a bit high for a 22 x 12 prop. That would give you over 60 pounds of thrust and would take more than 13kW to produce...I think it's probably closer to 6700.

That said, the system looks and sounds like it could power my 31% Extra OK but I'm worried the batteries are probably near the end of their life cycle. I'm interested to see what the volt reading is under a load of around 80 amps. Also, out of curiosity, why are you getting rid of it?

I am sorry, it was 8700 RPMs, not 9700. If you go to this page on the PJS website, you will see the 3D 10000 stats.

The Tanic packs have maybe 30 cycles on them and Tanic states that they will be good for between 300 & 500 cycles if maintained properly. These packs have always been balanced and are in excellent shape.

The PJS 22 x 12 Electric Carbon Fiber Prop has never hit the ground and is in like new condidtion. No nicks, scratches or scrapes on it at all.

I am selling this power system because I no longer have an aircraft for it. The Ultimate was sold to another modeler that was going to power it with a glow engine & did not require the electric power system.

If I do not sell this system soon, I will keep it and maybe install it in another giant scale aircraft like a GP YAK 54, GP Pitts, or Wild Hare Sukhoi.

I'm not trying to be argumentive here but 8700RPM on a 212KV motor with 10S and a 22x12 prop is not possible. At best the no load rpm (without a prop) could reach 8700 on a battery fresh off the charger but it would take 10kW to spin that prop at that rpm which would be around 300amps at 34v. The advertised "best effeciency" of 95 amps on 10S will give you around 3300watts on top of the line batteries. This make me believe that with the right prop and batteries 4kW might be achievable with this motor, which is what I need. I just need real numbers to convince me this motor is capable of flying my 31% with authority.

According to PJS, this system will fly an aircraft weighing 10000 grams aerobatically. Retail price on this system is over $1,400.00 and I am asking $600.00 shipped. It is in near new condition.
