For me the BF109e had the look of a killing machine, all business and no frills, the lines were unmistakable. If i were to have one on my tail i would have wanted to be in a P-47. A big beautiful Jug that brought many of our boys home to fight another day.

I heard an old WW II fighter pilot say. If you want a picture to send home it's the P-51, If you wanted to go home, it's the P-47. Avenger pilots where brave, but what about the Devastator pilots, family jewels the size of watermelons. I also have a affection to the Mosquito, A-20 Havoc, B-26 Marauder, SBD Dauntless, Hellcat, FW190 and the Gooney Bird, which I have a model of. The uglyist WW II plane has to be the Helldiver or the Storck (sic)

I am going to have to go with the Spitfire, and the Corsair, Black Sheep Squadron all the way. Favorite medium bomber B-25, and heavy bomber B-17 of course, my father-in-law worked on them in England during the war. Axis planes, I have to go with the Stuka, awesome plane with the distinct scream when diving. Aww, crap, I like em all really. I have seen just about all of them in Dayton at the Airforce Museum. I can spend hours in that place.

Great videos Hank. So majestic, I don't really think that modern aircraft can acheive that look in the air.

What about a Westland Whirlwind? That plane just looked fantastic and they were stationed close by at Exeter.
