Electric Retracts For Large Scale Jets
#1

It would appear Down & Locked is AWOL and threw away the keys to the shop. Robart's gone absolutely crazy pricing their E-Trac products.
We have Chinese linear but dare not go there for our new A6E. Anyone have a suggestion?

Electron ER-50eVo look to be your only choice if you want to go electric. These are very well built e-retracts, and the ER-50 can handle up to 66 lbs. Only issue may be that they don't offering a rotating main, which is probably needed on this A-6. But good for other large scale jets.

Or you can look at JP Hobby ER-150's that can handle up to 44 lbs.

I have the JP ER-120's but yet to test. Our AUW should be right at 38#. A wee stretch but have great reviews. I am trying to avoid Chinese retracts as they are going to be on the chopping block trade wise. We are looking for a domestic solution that is reasonably priced...so far "0" meet that requirement. Electron has a good linear servo but no straight strut much less rotation. If domestic machining works out then the Electron might have to be the choice. But do not like the $$$.

Yeah, you'll be hard pressed to find a US based company that can supply the retracts. All of the JP's I have in my turbines have been flawless, along with the set of Electron ER-40's I have in my Xcalibur.

Electron does not make rotating gear headworks. Their market focus is sport jets, not scale.
I've had to go to three domestic manufacturers to see which can do what is required.

Try ZY Hobby. I have bought lots of stuff there and their prices can't be beaten.

Thanks,
I was impressed with their 15kg unit which comes with brakes, headworks, non-scale strut, and controller.
