Just so this doesn't look like a spamming thread let me throw in props for my buddy Mike at BMK Designs. He is the one I buy my Scorpion motors, ESC's and X-Caliber batteries from. There. Now we have more than one "advertisement" in the thread. Gohmer: please don't take offense. I really do understand your concern. Scorpion is a great product at a great price and the word needs to get out there. This isn't a spammer thread.

I have completed my Ultimate with a Scorpion 3008-28. I have not flown it, but here is the setup:

Scorpion 3008-28
Dynam 25A
AR6100
4 HS55

I will get some better pics in the next few days. It was raining today and I did not want it to get wet.

Probable a 3s2100 TP prolite. I wanted to use a 1320, but the amp draw will be to high for that.

Have you got a chance to maiden her yet? I just received the Ultimate for Christmas, and have been looking for a power system for it. I was busy looking at AXI's, Eflite's, etc. when I ran across the Scorpions. The numbers look great, and I like the $$$$! I've been debating between the 28 or the 32 winds, but i'm leaning towards the 28.

Equipment planned for my Ulti:
Scorpion 3008-28
Scorpion Commander 35A esc
Futaba 3114 Servos
Berg 4l rcvr

Looking for performance similar to what I get out of my Big Ultimate...
3.2 Brison and Hitec digitals.

Has anyone used their ESC yet? If so, what's your experience?
thanks!

I have not maidened her yet. I am not too sure when I will. I might try to do it on Jan 5th. Currently it is windy and raining in central GA. We do get some breaks in the weather, but not enough for me to get her up.

Default Ultimate Biplane

I flew her today. Here are the details

Plane: 30" Ultimate BiPlane (
Motor: Scorpion 3008-28
Prop: APC 10x7E
Servos: 4 HS55
ESC: Pentium 40A
RX: AR6100

Amp Draw: 33A
Watts Produced: 355W
Weight: 28oz
W/lb: 202.86

These Scorpion motors are wonderful. They do draw more amps than their Eflite counterparts, but big deal. I am a huge fan of these motors. Thanks Scorpion.

My horizontal stab looks off, but it isnt. I landed on rough ground today and knocked the tail wheel lose. I need to reglue it tomorrow.

Randy feel free to use these on your website if you want.

at a shade more than 202w/lb, it ought to be ballistic! I pulled the trigger on a Scorp 3008-32 yesterday, just got the notice from LM that it shipped today, priority mail! Now that's service! Liquidity, what Ulti is that? I'm putting mine in a GP, baby brother to the 50cc version hanging on the wall. Hopefully, if it flies half as well as big brother, I'll be more than happy!

Looks good Liqudity. Didn't know you had went scorpion on us, I love these motors, I will not buy anything else ( unless they dont have what I need)
here is my latest airplane, not flown it yet, as you said the weather in GA has been ruff, cold, wet, windy. Might get a flight this afternoon or if not then tommorrow should be nice.

A Mini Showtime with a Scorpion 3014-16 motor, a Suppo 40A esc, A dimension engineering sport BEC. 2 Hs-65HB's on the tail. 2 HS-55's on the ailerons( will upgrade to HS-65 later)
Running it with 3 cell A123 2300mah pack.
Flying with a AR7000 rx and DX7 radio

Right now I have a 11X5.5 prop on it, static test showed WOT 24Amps and 220 watts. I am going to fly it first flight with this to see how it does, but I plan on getting a 11X8.5 to go on it should add about 70 more watts to it.

I will post when I fly it on how it does. should be about a 6 minute flight.

plane has 414 sq inches wing area
This plane weighs w/o battery 25.65
and the battery weighs right at 9.5
so total is around 35 ounces. <-- your face not mine, I know it can handle it fine.

Been flying a Mini edge 540 with 4 cell A123 with 297 inches of wing area.

The pictures show how we had to put the batterys to get it to balance right, 2 cells up front and one in the back in the canopy area.

I should have taken a pic of the motor before installed the cowl, I tryed to get a shot of the motor, us users know its a Scorpion. hey Ramovan, got any stickers for these? I got two HUGE ones but really to big for this plane, don't want to cover up the pretty covering job.

EDIT: Jan 12th, Added a couple new pictures, since I got my Scorpion stickers put on had to take cowl off so got shots of the motor.

The Biplane is built up balsa, no foam for me unless it is combat or a Lynx. There is not enough room to run A123. Anything thicker than a 3s2100 TP Prolite will not fit in the battery bay.

These Scorpion motors are wonderful. I think I will pick up a 2215-22 for my Slow Stick X

I was thinking about the new 1100's there smaller... think a 4 cell would fit, a 4 cell lil bit longer then a 2100 bout the same thickness.

I have done a little tweaking since I did this photo and watts are now a liittle over 600 on 4S and 950 on 5S A123 packs.

This was my first Scorpion and I now have 4.

One , a 3020-12 / 1088 Kv went in my Extreme flight Yak 54E as a replacement for the Torque 2814 /820 which just did not have enough power to suit me. The Yak has plenty of power now.Yak flys on 4S A123 pack also.

Default Scorpion Models Webpage

Looks like I better check in here more often - It's great to see all the Scorpion powered airplanes!

I have the first webpage of Scorpion powered models finished now if anyone would like to check it out. I even collected a few from Georges, the founder of Scorpion Precision Industries. Here's a link....
http://www.rcdude.com/servlet/.fc11d...ionSetups/Page

Liquidity - I'll get your new airplane posted on the webpage soon as I am now building page 2.

If anyone else would like to submit their airplane or helicopter for the Scorpion model page please let me know. I hope to build a large collection and need your help!

As a new flier (make that crasher), a lot of what I've learned has come from Ramovan and Lucien. If they are willing to put in the time and effort to support the community like that, as far as I'm concerned I'm glad to see the thread here. He also sells several other brands, but Scorpions are new and have been a topic of dicussion. I doubt he'll mind people comparing them to other motors. I study all of the examples here, it's very instructive. Other dealers and manufacturers hang out here and promote their stuff by testimony and are in evil cahoots with all the knowledgeable testers and reviewers here. I don't think this is any different. Personally I appreciate this thread.

Jim

How many A123 cells you have in that setup?
