Default Ace Nomad

I am looking for Pics, or plans for a real old Ace Nomad. It was a small rudder only escapement sailplane with a motor pod mounted on top. Late 50's to early 60's, and it had polyhedral. I think that it used a Pee Wee .020. Span had to be about 36" to 48" maybe ? ? ?

Thanks.

Early kits were wood structure wings, later ones had the foam wings. Either is correct for nostalgia class.

Eddy,

Highly suggest adding a wing spar in the two center sections. The wing structure is OK for just drifting through the sky but weak for any type of maneuvering. My Nomad had an Ace pulse rudder only system and flew great, right up until the wing folded.

That was one fav FF for me back then. .049 powered. Silkspan covered. Build from a mag plan. Before Ace kits.? It spent months in a large tree, flew again. Next build was L19 .049 FF. Wish to find plans for.

Nice, but not the one. Probably is better.. The one I scaled up in drafting class used balsa strips for the Fus formers. It flew so well. A Just me?

There used to be 2 to 10 plans you could build from (often after scaling up X2 to X4) in EACH magazine...

That was from appx 1930 to the mid 1970's and there were several magazines each month.

That's a lot of potential plans with almost no info to go on for finding it.

Eddy,

When you do build this I'm interested in seeing how you set up the electric motor and the related ESC, etc., with the motor on a pylon. Easy to do with the .020 but not with the wiring?

I have the Nomad back on the build-another list and i'm a fan of Ted Strader's designs. Will build with wing spar(s) this time.

Thanks,

Bill
