Spectrum smart ESC Extension

hi guys
im upgrading my e flite esc to a spektrum smart ESC. the issue im having is my battery side is about 8 inches short.could i add an extension to the smart ESC at that length and not have any issues?the EDF is the e flight thunderbird 70mm and the channel in front of the fan motor wont allow for it to go to far forward

No, you can't just add wire to the battery side. It does all kinds of bad things to the ESC. Ron Van Sommeren has several posts about this. Try to look up his posts.
You can extend the motor side, but that sounds like it may not work.
Can you cut a larger area?

im going to move the esc to the backside of the cockpit close to the CG and run a extension from the back of the ESC(motor side) to the EDF fan unit.this way no cutting etc and clean looking. thnx for the input

If you cannot but extend, extend the motorwires, not the batterywires, and keep controller(s) close to battery(s).
No need for extra input capacitors, resulting in more space, less costs and less points of failure

- Two problems
• Voltage spikes higher than battery voltage: transistor / powerFET / die breakdown.
• Current through input capacitors too high: caps overheating/popping/exploding.
• Nonsense Ron, I never had problems with long battery wires. - Example: four costly controllers consecutively cremated
