Hi Chellie You can get Blenderm 50mm wide= 2" approx part no 1525/5B
This will need to come from a drug store. I thought the elevon were rectangular, with the inner and outer edges chopped at 45 degrees?

Hi Dekan thank you on the tape info, and yes the elevons are 10" X 2" each with the edges cut about 45 degrees, not to critical on the degree of cut on the outer edge, just what ever looks good to you, Take care, Chellie

Thanks yet again, Chellie. I figured that it didn't have to be exact, but it's faster to ask than to have to cut it out again. Can't wait for the maiden, though that's still a ways off!

Hi Chellie,
These deltas look really cool and I want to try and put one together. I have a couple extra brushed motors. GWS 350C and 300C. Do you think either of these might work on these deltas?

Both motors should power one ok provided you use a 2 cell lipo, I would stick with the B or C gearing and a 8x6 prop to keep some speed.

Thanks Chellie, I was unsure of what motor Susan would use on hers so I planned it around a GWS 350 with C or B gearing. On the 300 or 350 with C gearing try a 9x7.5 or 10x6 prop. The B gear should get a 9x7.5 or 8x6. Because the motor is on the front I strongly suggest you use a prop saver and cut off the extra motor shaft. I have tried this with very good results for a brushed system with Thunder Power 1320 2 cells. I have even tried a EDF-75 ducted fan on one with a 3 cell that flew.

Thats a cute little delta with a ducted fan, I have a few planes to maiden yet, so I better wait before building any more planes I bought 8 sheets of foam board at Walmart the other day for $2.89 per sheet, and ok ok i already have a drawing on one of them take care, Chellie

I think that foam board addiction is contagious. I have a harder and harder time passing that aisle in Target or Wal-Mart without buying more... It calls to me, "Buy me and make me fly." And to think that I have yet to maiden one (other than the mini STC's test glide) -- I'll be completely hooked once I've been able to make a foam board fly!

To be specific, I have a GWS 300 with a 2 gearing

9047? 9050? 9070?

If I can't get these to work I will buy an Ebay Cheapo brushless I guess.

Me neither! :o That didn't stop me from buying the foam board and drawing the plans, though. I figure once I build the plane, I will have good justification to my wife to buy a DX6, not to mention the motor, ESC, battery, charger, etc. I currently have a Challenger and two AHAAs, precious little flying time, but a little more building time. Hopefully DST will provide a little more time!

Me either. I'm using a cheapo 72MHz ESky EK2-0404 TX that I actually got with my Lama 3 heli. Futaba makes these cheapos for Esky. It says its good for 330meters (which I really doubt) but if it's good for 1/3 that it should be fine. Range testing says it should be ok also. Hey, I'm not ready to run out and buy an expensive TX yet. Besides I hear that Fuataba is coming out with a 2.4GHz TX for 219.00. I want to wait until the reviews are in on that one.

Here is the $33.00 cheapo i have:
http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_in...00kuqehahe9hv0

Oh yeah... I doesn't do mixing so you will have to buy a mixer to put in between the RX and the servos.

Does it have low / high rates? That might be a consideration, though I might personally be at a point where I'd buy some quality gear (plus avoid interference). At $33 for the Tx, $25 for the Rx, $6 for the crystals, $9 (?) for the mixer cable, and $7.50 each for two servos, you're comparing $88 for the el cheapo to $180 for the DX6.

Build an STC, too, and you'll be wishing for model memory (and low rates, from what I've heard).

Still, it's half the price. Hmm... Personally I'd go with the DX6, since I already have an RTF with cheapo stuff that won't "grow", but that combo would be tempting for some, if not me...

I think I saw the Futaba 2.4GHz system on towerhobbies or hobby-lobby at $220, though yet to be released. IIRC, it did not come with 4 servos, which are worth a good $10-12 each, although from here on I may try and get cheaper ones from united hobbies.

The Dx6 of course does come with dual rates, but at least for a beginner, they're not necessary; I set the travel adjustment really low on mine at the "0 rate" (there are two positions, one is 0 the other is 1, so one can have separate travel adjustments for each one and then in flight hit the switch and go between them) so although I'm not using dual rates I do have the travel of the control surfaces set pretty low. I think the highest was 65% and the lowest was around 35-40% on one of them. They're changeable at 2% increments, I think, so it can be set that a full range of motion for a stick results in little (and set at 0% none) servo movement. Faily nifty

I guess that was the point I was trying to make on the E-Sky. A "standard" radio does not have travel adjustments like a computer radio, so the cheapo Tx's single rate will by definition be 100% travel. I was less concerned about "dual rates" than about "low rates", I guess. I know the FMS model of the STC is nearly uncontrollable using a game pad because the rates are too high (for me). If I built a real STC and SQD, but couldn't fly them because of too much travel, the cheapo Tx would end up being a waste.

Can anyone confirm whether these cheapo radios have rate / travel adjustments? AFAIK, they only have trim and always use 100% travel, but I know squat about it...

Got me. I already have one so might as well try it. Kindof a nothin to loose. If I need to I'll buy into a real radio but it will be fun to see if this one can really work.

Hi Doyle you cant go wrong with a DX6, and if you ever want to sell it, you will have no trouble selling it here on Wattflyer and its the only radio that you will ever have to buy, I am saving up for a DX7 to fly my heli with, Take care, Chellie

Hi Everyone I think you all deserve a nice DX6, no matter what your wifes say If your wifes give you a bad time about your RC Hobby, just do what Bubba did, Bubba was in a bar in Texas, telling all of his buddies that he is Celebrating his 50th wedding anniversary,
His buddies asked him if he is going to do anything special for his 50th wedding Anniversary,
Bubba said Yup, Sure Am, as a matter of fact, on my 25th wedding anniversary, I took my wife Ethel, to Phoenix Arizona,
So now on my 50th Wedding Anniversary, I am going to Phoenix Arizona,
To Bring Her Back Now

Take care, Chellie

I think you will be able to get a DX 6 cheap very soon .....As the new lightweight receiver 3.5grms .....only works with the DX 7 so all the micro/mini indoor plane boys will just have to upgrade!!!!

Your first choice will work but heres what I had in mind.

http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...41&pid=T433964

http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...41&pid=T416569

The last one would be my choice with a 8x6 prop.

Theres no rate adjustment but there is mechanical adjustment on the servo arms and control horns. The closer you move the push rods to the servo on the arm the less throw you get. The control horns work the same way but in reverse so you can adjust the overall travel.

Thanks, Kosh, didn't think about that. I guess being a computer-head I tend to think in terms of adjusting the computer. I'd still rather spend the extra $90 and get a glitch-free system that has good room to grow.

I did notice that the new AR6100 uses DSM2, and therefore only works with the DX7. Well, $320 is a lot more, though. Hopefully all the indoor and micro guys / gals will want to upgrade a dump a huge supply of DX6s on eBay.
