OK Tom.....

Bill,

Anything special to know in how to safely get it out?

Of course, as soon as I send it, I'll dork mine and break it. But, knowing me, I'd replace it with the wrong one.....twice, maybe even.....

No Kev it's real simple. Once you have the back off the radio just pop the connector of with a small set of grips. It just pops off and then back on again.

There is one screw that holds the antenna on to the top of the radio, remove it and pull the whole assembly straight out.

I looped the longer cable around the board at the top once to keep it from getting into the gimble area.

I didn't mean to step on your toes. If you'll notice, our posts were <60 seconds apart, so while I was copy/pasting the link you were posting yours. $15 shipped for yours was very reasonable, I thought, but you only have one of them. I had just ordered two from horizon hobby myself.

Has anybody confirmed that the E-Flite Transmitter Antenna, 2.4GHz: BCX2/3 antenna is the correct antenna for the Spektrum DX7? Thanks.

Here is the official answer from Horizons own documents. (DX7 TX/RX Module users manual)

4. Module User Requirements

4.2 Only a 2dBi antenna can be used with this module. The antenna must meet and not
exceed the gain and pattern of the supplied Inpaq DAM00BM11500209 folded dipole
antenna.
