Nigel, yes i had to completely 'gut' the transmitter. The process involves dunking the parts in a tank of water so you wouldn't want to leave anything electronic installed. The actual dipping process is pretty straightforward, the preparation is the harder part. There are lots of videos online giving a good guide on how to go about it and kits can be bought with all the stuff you need.
