The B47 had a large turning radius....the Fwd main gear had a max turning of 20 deg left right and the rear main was fixed which made for a wide radius....the outrigger wheel(s)during normal taxi...

Hate to differ with your source, but outrigger gear did not free caster it had torque link on the strut which had to be disconnected for towing....OR what happened on sharp turn in and out of hanger...
