Check your fuel lines too. Many of those little 2 strokers come with gas lines like on RC stuff. They get old and leak. The problem could be backwards from what I am thinking.

If it wants to run well with the choke on that usually means you have an air leak between the carb and plastic carb mount or in the body of the carb.
