pz spit

the servo needs to lay down in an east-west configuration with the arm pointing straight up (with wing face up). I simply used epoxy to hold it in place (lots of epoxy) as there is a significant...

have someone give it a good, solid toss for you. throw it like a javelin about 42 degree angle. have another buddy ready to trim it for you. you keep your thumbs on the sticks while your bud dials in...

I bet there are hundreds of people who bought PZ's first stang only to have it auger in and break into many bits. It was fairly fragile and depending on who you ask, trickier to fly than most PZ...

spit servos

i like to keep my planes as simple as possible. there's less that can go wrong that way.
a flaperon setup in the pk spit is effective. it also means cutting into that nice, well-covered wing and...

spit servo

you're on the right track using a quality, high-torque mini servo. something with metal gears is a good idea.
the real trick is making sure the wire in push rod tubes has as little resistance as...

good customer service at hobby lobby

I've also had good experiences with hobby lobby. they go the extra step to not only make things right, but make them extra right.

in turn, I find myself buying more of their products.

i put very hot motors into my A-10 and it doesn't seem to make a difference. it flies beautifully but ain't no speed demon.
but i'm pretty sure that's how the plane was designed. it's built to...

your zero looks great. i really like the clean demarcation line between the green and the lighter underbelly. it's tough to get that with a rattle can.

so how much am i looking at for a decent...

new gear assembly

the main gear is pressed onto a spleened hub (at the end of the drive shaft). they are tough to remove and sometimes destroy the plastic main gear in the process.

an entire new gearbox is about 6...

What determines a motor's quality?

I've tended to believe "you get what you pay for".
that said, I went ahead and ordered a few ultra-cheap motors from HobbyCity...just to make sure my beliefs were sound.

anyway, I've been...

a dx6i radio will greatly improve the spit's roll rate.
no need to futz with anything else.

fantom flies great

i've got 2 of these things. they fly beautifully.
they need a solid throw to get them airborne but once up, will float for a long time.
be sure to reinforce the ailerons/tailerons as they are...

solid plane

despite being a relatively simple plane, the j3 cub is a freakin blast. all my bros have them and we do the air combat thing with the pz modules. originally we used our pz spits for combat but they...

i've seen those videos as well. i found it hard to believe they were flying the same plane.
i've had two of the wm zeros. both were by far the sketchiest planes ive ever owned. doesn't matter how...

wm zero motor

mine did too.not especially exciting performance but adequate.
the problems arise when you need to rebuild the motor.
you can't.
it's a one-piece deal. it's meant to be discarded.
that doesn't...

world zero motor

the wm zero motor is perhaps one of the cheapest, most poorly made brushless motors i've seen. it's a sub-sub-basement "bargain".
a standard brushless 480 series motor (eflite 480) will work much...

i want a new plane....

horizon has always been very good about replacing defective merchandise. i have no reason to believe they would cease the practice.
it's one of the main reasons i buy thier products.

no, i was using a brand new Zippy 2200mah 3S.
i found the PZK batts to be too tight for the slot, especially with velcro on both sides.
in hindsite, i should have not inserted the batt all the way....

here's what happened...

i inserted the batt into the plane, pushed it in with marginal force. my plane makes a quick "squeeek" and then goes quiet. i thought it was strange but it seemed to be ok.
i check all my control...

it's not my intention to throw horizon under the bus. but i've gotta say that this is a serious design flaw, an accident waiting to happen.
i checked the motormount screw in my corsair and it's been...
