That should be fine. I fly my stock SS on an 8 cell 9.6V 800mAh NI-MH. Has plenty of power and it's great fun.

I read somewhere that after you remove the paper (I soaked my parts in the tub) that you should lay it on a flat smooth surface. The tension holds the foam parts to it like a magnet if they are wet....
