It's funny that GP and others had a pattern of dumping smaller planes as (some) people were convinced that "bigger is better". Now they've reversed the trend and they're bringing back many sizes that...

Thanks. This plane will be put in service for speed, so I think I need to look for a motor with a higher kv rating. I'll check out the HURC site. I want RPMs and a high pitched prop. I have to check,...

Avoid all the frequency hassles and go 2.4. After switching my boats to 2.4 last year, I absolutely do not miss having to deal with frequency clips!

I was originally thinking of sticking with 3S batteries for simplicity and portability, but I'm wondering if I'd get a significant boost by going with 4S batteries in the Yak. Thoughts???

Thanks for the input. According to the calc you showed if I prop the Cub with a more scale-like pitch, 10x4 for example, the current draw would be down to 24.216 amps. A 10x5 would give 28.249 amps,...

Hmmmm. Did I err with my calculations?
Here are the numbers I've been using:
Weight: 4 pounds
50 to 75 watts per pound for Cub-like planes
Watts: 4 * 75 = 300 watts
Volts: 11.1
Amps: 300 / 11.1...
