Cargo plane - Twin engine project
This winter is creating a build frenzy ....

I've built the Mosquito ... then the Vulcan ...and now I want a cargo twin to do candy / poppy drops. A C130 / A400 style would be fine - but they are 4 engine jobs ... I have a couple of small 930kv motors that I reckon a 1m span Hercules style could do.

Sketch out plans :

Cut the parts

Lite Ply source for strengthening formers

Sides and formers ready

Gluing up

3D print some motor cowls

fuselage continues

Basic wing cut and checked ... will be flat bottom wing with curved top sheet added

Testng ideas for wing spars ..

She will have servo operated cargo door at rear .... flaps ... and the usual 4 other ch's ...and I will add a Stabiliser Gyro to give me slow capability for the 'show drops' its intended for.
U/C will be like the C130 ... twin outer wheels on fuselage and a front steerable. All fixed ...

Initially it was just an idea ... but once I started - the bug has bit deep !

Been interesting road .... but now she is ready for cosmetics ...

7x 3.5 3 bladers on 3S gives 8A at WOT ..... now to test 8x4.5 3 bladers.

Just sorting out how to mount SS3 tag for video recording. And wait weather of course.

The 8x4.5 props ..... 3S 1800 = 18.5A ...... WOW !! Pulls vertical ... on 2S 3000 = 11A and decent pull and of course nice long flight time.

Braved cold blustery wet wind ...............

The 2S on the 8x4.5x3 proved only just able to fly with this wind ......so I have now swapped back to the 9x4.5x3 props as I want that weight of the large 2S pack in there.
