Do you think all the artwork will make it heavy? Maybe you should put it on a diet. Maybe cut off some of those "scales". I would hate to think that your plane would be too slow to get away from my "black cross" planes!!!! I just might have to fillet your fish in mid air!!! LOL!! Steve

dbcisco 09-21-2009 12:31 AM

Put the scales on a scale?
Weight for the right moment. Then go in for the gill shot.

I weight my standard E-flite Nieuport without battery then I put my fish on the scales with all parts to be added. It wieghts less than an oz more than the standard one. I just hope it don't need any weight added for blance because most of the printed paper is aft of the COG. I do have to be careful of those sharks that fly the black cross planes cause this is an unarmed training fish.

dbcisco 09-21-2009 01:27 AM

Get a gun on it and those sharks will be singing a different tuna, unless there's a grouper them.

WWI Ace 09-21-2009 03:24 AM

We really Shad stop the fish jokes!!! Steve

dbcisco 09-21-2009 03:40 AM

Mahi mahi mahi, I must say, you're building with the precision of a sturgon. Love the pull pull, this plane is looking ducky.

What in the eel is wrong with it? It is suppost to look fishy.

I have pull-pull on all my WW1 planes except my GP SE5a.

WWI Ace 09-22-2009 02:55 AM

Yeah man, this plane really has sole!!! Steve

dbcisco 09-22-2009 03:01 AM

Ron 09-22-2009 04:45 AM

The Flying Fish is ready to fly. It still needs a pilot and maybe a few touchups. Now I would like to have your opinions. How do you think the bottom of the fuselage was painted? I have left mine sliver, my wife thinks it looks best that way. Do you think the plane had scales on the bottom? or maybe black lines like the wings for fins? I can see the bottom of the wings in the pictures but not the bottom of the fuselage.

dbcisco 10-01-2009 06:02 AM

I would leave it silver. If at some point you discover what it was, you can add it.

Came out great! Yep, I concur. I'd leave the bottom alone. Judging by other planes of the era, I'd say chances are good it was left factory stock.

Really like this one - it's creel cool.

Now for the pilot - I think you should make a grinning shark as a pilot. Sharks look great with scarves you know.
