The Fokkers are safe from my TripeHound for a while. Last night it desided to fly away, I regained control long enough to turn it 180 degrees back toward me then lost control again. It is in the top of a tree. Now I need the wind to blow.

What is causing this loss of contol? Is it a pilot thing, or a bad receiver thing?

I haven't heard anything good about any Walkera electronics!! Steve

Rx
Degreen, 7car7, I use exclusively BERG Rxs. They lock onto your signal and ignore others even if they are on the same channel! I have never had a problem one. For the cost (about 26.00 to 29.00) it's worth it. Martin

Tiger Moth
7car7 check Tower's sight. I think you can get a slope version of the Tiger Moth for about $26.00. What you need you can take from the old one (motor, batt, etc). I think I might go for one (since my Birthday is next month). Gee I hope my Wife sees this.... Martin

I went for this deal...
http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...9&pid=NGWSV373 Here's the main page with GWS replacement stuff - would be great for a scratchbuilder who's into foam - like what degreen60 did. http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=V531939 They have parts for a PT17 on there. Or perhaps a biplane using Spitfire wings? :D |
Great Planes Electrifly SPAD XIII
Does anyone have any info on the new SPAD from GP. I saw a short blurb on Fly R/C but thats it. I contacted GP and they said they did not have any info?
|
Expect to wait a couple months if it goes like it did with the other planes in the WW1 line....:(

Hello WWI fans,
Remember that Pink foamy Fokker Dr-1 Tri that used to be on thread page #79?. It sure is doing some nice flying. I posted another video on me sport flying it in Webshots here: http://good-times.webshots.com/video...29027590CeHfIB She is now all trimmed and have about 12 flights on it now. There are 35 mixed electric videos I posted in the Webshots site of some of my 24 plane squadron. There is also a Das Ugl-E Stik and Eindekker some place in there. Incedently, the Das Ugl-e Stik, Eindekker and others posted are home built Foam electrics. Feel free to look around. Use the FULL Album in the upper right corner to open more albums. Also, Webshots allows free posting of 950 videos and 9,500 pictures. Good Deal! Free. You can see some info on my homebuilt Dr-1 Tri on this WWI thread at the link here. http://www.wattflyer.com/forums/show...postcount=2156 Enjoy yourself, **Neons** Bob |
Thanks Bob.....:tc:

Check this out
Check the website out Boys! :D Some juicy stuff here. :D BTW, you can get very nice CDs on e-bay for some planes featured here. http://www.fokker-team.de/ Martin

Once again Martin comes through with great reference material!! Went flying this morning. Took three planes and broke one. My little green tripe!! Landed on our dirt runway and caught a little weed on the wing between the wheels. Instant cartwheel!! Broke the middle wing off one side and the top wing came completely off. I'm in the process of repairing it now. But the flight was great till the landing!! Oh well, we build 'em, we fly 'em, we crash 'em, and then build them again!!! I didn't build it to be a static model. How are all you guys doing? Happy 4th!!! Thanks Bob for more planes to look at!! Steve

Rebuild
Steve, tell us you rebuilt her! :) What a shame to crash that fine aircraft. Then again the real one did the same thing. Or you could always blame it on wind shear!! ;) Martin
|
It's fixed!! I just need to do a little wing tweaking. She'll live to fly again!! Steve

HDP
WWI Ace,
Just check the website. I'll have video and many still pictures of the event. Check out last years event. steve |
Daughter lives in Muncie. Guess I will have to go for a visit.
|
|
Check back often. We are behind with some 2007 stuff and the new 2008 video. Hopefully we will get some new stuff on there in the next couple of weeks. I will have the test flight of my new 1/4 scale SE5a and the Hanger 9 Camel in a few weeks. I have too many projects and not enough time.

Death of the Red Baron is on the Military Channel right now!
|
Wow, where is everybody? Last few days have been dead around here!
Hope my WWI nut buddies are all OK. |
I'm still here!! I've just been busy lately. I need to get busy building again.
|
I was beginning to hear crickets chriping!
I updated my Albatros rebuild thread with new pitchurs, but (sniff) no one seemed to notice:sad: (:D) On another note, I'm curious - I was looking thru more pictures of the Dawn Patrol Site, and noticed a lot of the large models have both sides ailerons drooping down. What's going on with that? http://www.hoosierdawnpatrol.com/day...s/img_1348.jpg |
Can someone point me to this Dawn Patrol site. It looks interesting.
|
Don't know what that particular site is , but try www.hoosierdawnpatrol.com
The ailerons drop because of the weight of the control surface and the use of coreless servos. When the radio is turned on the ailerons will come up to where they are supposed to be. steve |
Still here....hiding inside due to temperatures of 103-110+ degrees....

Yep, I only use digital high torque coreless metal geared servos on my big stuff. 1 servo on each surface. The security is worth it. My 1/3 scale pup, like the one crashing on my website, carried 9 servos.

Who was the cowardly Fokker(maybe Albatros) pilot that shot up my Sopwith Tripe while it was stuck in the tree? HAHA
Storm last night blew the tripe out of the tree. Found it this morning, top wing between the rails of railroad and fuselage about 4 foot from rails. Missing battery, one servo, landing gear, and pilot. The plane must have traveled through about 4 trees to make it clear out of the woods. Found servo and pilot in the rock next to the fuselage. Nothing was found between fuselage and the tree it was stuck in. Landing gear and batttey was at the edge of the woods about 20 feet off line between tree and fuselage, about 30 feet from fuselage. It must have taken quite a trip to the ground. |
Oh wow, what a shame! I hate to see someones hard work like that. Now you get to build a new one, right? :tc:
|
Dang...That is quite a bit of battle damage....:{
|
I really hated to see that happen!! I was hoping to shoot it down myself!! Ha ha!! Sorry about your plane!! Steve
