[quote=rowdy_b64;373698]Hey there fellow WWI flyers ..
Well the day came for my DR1 to finally hit the sky .. and then the earth ...<sob> Power failed not sure why .. suspect I was pulling to many Watts. Damage to the cowling and the motor mount box smashed off. Gotta say ... she glides like a brick !!!! :mad: quote] A Camel hit. |
Looks to be a bit tail heavy...or perhaps you just tried to climb out too early. You may also look into a larger diameter prop for more thrust.
|
I think Barmonkey is right!! Steve
|
Definately
Definately tail heavy! :( Could be from lead bullets, but everybody knows degreen can't shoot straight, so it can't be him. :p:D Martin
|
Martin probably did it cause all he saw was RED
|
Red planes fly better...
I picked up a plane today that is crying for an electric conversion. |
Camel
BTW degreen, I too have a Wattage Sopwith Camel! :D I just don't tell anybody.... Sssshhhhh :) Martin

It's going to need some work.
There are no ailerons, and little if any dihedral. The horizontal stabilizer was crooked, I snapped it when I tested how hard it would be to "ease" it back in place. It was glow, I intend to correct this. I might change the color, but, well, not sure what color to change it to. |

Are there any other colors for this type of plane than creme (so no color at all on the original one)? Uli |
I guess I have two choices, add ailerons, or more dihedral...
|
WW1 Foamies please ...
Hi all,
I think we really need more WW1 planes along the line of Eflite Se5a and Jenny. Something that is easy to put together, light, cheap to replace, looks scale and affordable (50 bucks). DP |

When I bought it, it still had the glow motor attached. I took it off and handed it back to the guy. |

All ready for St. Paddy's day!
|
|
Are you talking about the color of the plane or me? HAHA. You can download the PDF file of the green one, enlarge it to the size of your plane, print on paper, and glue it on your plane. Will look nice and you don't have to paint. Don Green

I didn't know, that the German Air Force Museum has a Fokker E III too. The last (and only time around 1989) I visited it, it was still in Uetersen. But I was the only one there (during the week on a rainy day) and got a VIP-tour by the director of the museum. :ws: Any one sat in a Heinkel He 111 before? Awsome !!! Uli |

The "Move"
Yeah you love struck fool! I've been trying to call you. Guess you needed some time to move into your new "shop". Be sure to show us the setup when you're done, Martin
|
Murph may be too busy for us right now. He must have a really big backyard too if that's where he is flying!! Steve
|
The Morane Saulnier L flew tonight. It is very sensitive to controls. Guess I will learn to fly with ailerons one of these days. Flight went kind of good till the three point landing, one wheel, wing tip, and nose. Only had to slip the wing back on, nothing broken so I guess it was a good landing. I now have the copper colored intakes on the engine and you can see them spining on the front of the plane in the air.
|
Marty, I tried to call you today..:)....I will call again tomorrow..:)

Fokker spotted over the So. Cal. Desert.
Hi Guys.....many of you know I moved a week ago from Northern California in the Coastal Redwood Forest, to the Southern California High Desert.....the wind finally died back and this morning is perfect flying weather.....Warm...Sunny....very very light breeze...
I decided the time had come for my first sorties at the new location. So I went outside to the side yard......took off with my GP Ultimate Biplane ep......had a good flight.....Landing wasn't the prettiest, but was OK. Then I got out the trusty GP Fokker DVII.... took off and flew the heck out of it.....came in on final approach, and greased it in for a perfect landing.:) The super flat and hard packed sand side yard landing strip is absolutely perfect for landing 30-36 inch wingspan biplanes West to East or East to West!! And there is a perfect Landing strip in the very back for landing North to South or South to North!! I am quite pleased to be able to fly my electrics in the backyard.:tc: Murph...... |
