Took my e-flite Fokker D-7 out for the first time this morning.(first non-windy day and after cataract surgery on tues).Lemme tell you. It is so good to be able to see once more and fly. The plane flies great after trimming out and no crashes! Gonna try the nieuport either sat or sun if weather allows. Happy flying! D

Got the power system for my micro tripe put together. Battery, 2 servos, ESC, motor, prop, and RX weigh 1oz. Gonna try a different RX and try to drop 5 more grams of weight.

I put that DR1 on my Tower wishlist Marty and Tower sent an email saying it was deleted from my list. I don't know if that means they're gonna have it or not.

Have you guys seen the one from Hobby King? It actually appears to be a bit more scale than the Tower one.

$69.00

Does not get much better than that right there.

I so wish they could put some of those planes on a world tour or something. I'd love to see it live. Along with the SE5a that's down there.

How do you do that? It requires membership every time I try to download

Here are lots of printed paper WW1 models. You can download one free every 15 min. I have enlarged these, tile printed, and use to make a foam model. You could even use to make plans for a build up model.

Use slow download. Some place have stopped the slow download and charge to download. Try this one. http://translate.google.com/translat...=pt%7Cen&hl=en

Cam toss

Tiger Moth was in flight, the prop broke caused some major vibration which tossed the cam out and tumbled to earth. See if you can find the Tiger Moth on her dead stick approach in one of the frames. Was interesting to see the plane react when the prop broke.

Had some fun yesterday with my FlyZone Albatross. A real easy plane to fly, compared to a couple other micros I have, but won't take as much wind.

TM4197 06-28-2011 06:30 PM

3 out of 4 aint bad!

Sunday, was flying my SIG D-VII around in some semi windy conditions for that plane, actually was not doing bad. I decided to put a 2.4G HC orange boxe in her. She binded and all controls were good. At about 100 feet she went into a straight down attitude and smashed into the ground. Damage was not that bad, the fuse broke 2 inches aft of the firewall and the motor mount separated, and the top wing came off the struts. All very repairable. And of course my pilot had bailed! found him about 10 feet from crash. Really sad. Re-hooked up the electrics, rebinded....and did a range check. I would loose signal at about 20 paces. The servos (rudder and elevator) would almost go to full deflection every time at 20 paces. I dialed in another orange box, no issues. I checked each of the boxes and only one was bad. Ooooo and guess what......if I had done :censor: range check the :censor:time..I wouldnt be typing right now!

Was one of the pilots I sent you? Going to have to tell my priestness her hex was not strong enough, you fixed the plane. LOL

TM4197 06-28-2011 07:15 PM

LMAO.....I thought of you right away after the crash....number one.....guess I'll send it to DEGREEN skunkworks......number 2 thought was.....hahahaha..his hex didnt work! She's flying again....same pilot....

Putting together another e-flight JN4 to use as a trainer for a friend of mine. I love that plane. I actually got some stick time back in 1970 and I have to say, one of my all time favs!!

I might have something for ya here real soon. :D

No hurry crashing one for me. LOL I am still working on the Bristol Scout. I finally got one I can not rebuild. Crashed my Bristol M1C in the woods over a year ago. Wind finally tore it out the the tree tops. Only got about half or less of the foam back, rest is in small pieces scattered in the woods. Landing gear and tail fins look ok. If I build new wings and fuselage, use the landing gear and tail fins can I call it a rebuild? LOL

TM4197 06-28-2011 09:07 PM

Seeing what you have rebuilt in the past..I would say yes!!:D

Would like to see it.

I been trying to get the Breguet 14 to fly good. It is a handfull in the air. Have crashed it several times. Finally I desided with power on the motor it was stalling. I give the motor a lot more down thrust. The prop angle now looks terrible but it flys. Maybe I can use the cowl to hide most of the down angle of the prop shaft. It seems to want to bank right from level flight. Takes a lot more stick to turn left than right. Now working to find a fix for that problem.

wattman 07-03-2011 05:53 PM

Are you starting to have any problems getting test pilots for these test flights ?

Thought I would add this to the collection:

Veron SE5a FF plans converted to RC. I did actually fly her, but sadly the motor let go after the 6th flight.

- 15" WS
- AUW 38g (1.35oz)
- Spektrum AR6400 RX
- Parkzone UM T-28 power system: 8.5mm pager motor with gearbox

The video might not be the smoothest, but I was also fighting 5mph gusts on the maiden!

Naw, my pilots are kind of hollow headed. Not smart enough to stay out of my planes. LOL The pilot that was in the plane in the tree for over a year must have got tired of waiting on me and left. I never found him.

touche 07-03-2011 09:32 PM

planes in waiting

Hi all,
Our postal strike is over and I ordered a motor/esc etc etc for the Eflie Nieuport XI reworked to an Italian theme.
I was searching around the net on Fokkers as all mine are Allied planes..I came across a local ad at a pawn shop for a discontinued Electrifly (GP) Fokker DR1 tri plane. (Model GPMA1380) This is NIB 60" wing span. Started looking about for threads on a conversion to electric but they are all fairly old threads. Plane can be had fairly cheap but I'm sure the guts would add up the cost. I should probably go for the DR VII and keep them all the same size but a nagging itch is shouting triplane.????????????

degreen60 07-03-2011 10:49 PM

The Breguet 14 is now a nice flying airplane. One of the crashes had knocked one of the wing pannels out of alinement. I used the brace wires to pull it back into place. Before I added all the down thrust I thought it was going to have to fly fast and land fast. Now it flys slower and floats in for the landing.

Happy 4th of July

happy 4th of July to all my fellow fleigers here on Wattflyer. May God continue to bless this great country of ours. We are truly blessed beyond measure. Remember freedom isn't free. God Bless and watch over our troops. God Bless America. Marty

Thank you Marty! It was a GREAT 4th for us. Family went on a nice long bike ride on the bike trail, and just had a good no stress day.
Haven't flown any planes since last week, I feel a nice morning with WWI bipes floating around is in order.

After much searching I finally found parts to make bombs for the Breguet 14. I have to thank the wife for supplying the parts. The front and main body of the bomb is thin metal cap off ebrow pencel. The rear of the bomb is off free pens where she use to work. Fins are just paper glued on rear part and trimmed.

touche 07-11-2011 07:15 PM

Hey there now,
Be sure to paint some day glo bright orange on the tips of those bombs. You don't want anyone thinking they might be real..:silly:

After looking at some WW1 pictures I do not think the bombs were painted black but maybe a gray. I am going to repaint gray. Now let me see if I have some black power to fill them.

wattman 07-11-2011 07:57 PM

Use 4F powder and a percussion cap in the nose and fly over pavement , whoa , I want to see this show , please get it on video , ha ha ha :D

TM4197 07-11-2011 08:33 PM

DeGreen.. you scare me sometimes![popcorn]

scalercflyer 07-12-2011 12:10 AM

Come on D! Maybe just a little explosion! :D;) Marty

degreen60 07-12-2011 02:04 AM

When I was a kid I had a kind of bomb I bought in a 5 & dime store that you put a cap in the nose then threw it up in the air and it set the cap off when it hit the ground. It would take a larger plane than my Breguet 14 to fly with one attached. My kids would get "Snaps". When throwed on the ground hard enough they would make a noise. Wonder if they would go off dropped from a plane.

touche 07-12-2011 04:37 AM

Damn I remember those little bombs with caps. Right up there with Bat Masterson canes, toy Derringers and Rifleman/ Bounty Hunter Winchesters. Man we grew up in violent times..lol...
