Rudder looks more like an Allied but the Stabilizer is definitely Axis.
I'm stumped. |

That should be an interesting Aeroplane to finish. Are you going to use the 96th Aero Squadron colors?? or the 9th Night Recon squadron?
It appears these things got their :censor: kicked at the very beginning! Like anything else, once they figured out what they could "really" use them as...they seemd to hang around a little longer! GOOD LUCK!! can't wait to see the finished bird. [popcorn] |

Thought this was a cool picture of the 14 in flight. I think this was the 96th Aero camo scheme. Gotta love the exhaust on top of the cowling. That must have a nice ring to the ear up front!

Got the ESC for the Sopwith Pup. After a couple of rocky flights I found the trouble and tonigh was a nice slow flight. It wants to turn left and have to hold lots of right rudder. I think I can tighten the flying wire on the left wing so it twists the trailing edge down giving it more lift and hope it fixes the problem.

Thats funny. The plane did the same thing out of the box, she loved leaning left. I found that the bottom of the rudder where the contol arm was connected needed more beef there. It was actually twisting the rudder instead of turning it. She flew great after that!! WELL....until it was shot down!:eek:
BTW: I was trying to find info on the above picture, #10...does that look like an "E" on the rudder? |

prop savers
I really do not like prop savers , after the previous o ring broke while setting in its nest ...................I wrestled and thrashed around and finally got a new one in place , and managed to break the rudder and stab , both on my Sopwith Pup , dirty word , ...................and finally when all the damage repaired , test run up to insure all is ok .
Early this morning grabbed the Pup ,, and gear and went to the park , got the plane out of the van , what the ...............prop gone , busted o ring . Did not notice in the pre dawn light when loading up that it was gone . Well returned home and found the prop at home . Placed another one on , and did not break anything else , I think . Of course now the wind has picked up again , flight ops grounded , again . I have planes with the regulat prop attachments that have been on /in place for 5 years or more ..................I really do not prop savers , period . |
I feel your pain
I have had the same situation, thats frustrating for sure. What I do now is slide the adapter down further on the shaft, put a washer on after the prop and place the oring over it. yes, it no longer is a propsaver, but its a fix for me to keep my props on. I break a few more, but...its my way of supporting HeadsupRC. :D

That’s correct...(Minus the washer) not sure why I even stated that. Habits from the threaded shafts I guess. I move the PS back to expose part of the shaft, doesn’t take much. I place the prop up to the PS. A little of the shaft is now exposed past the prop. Then put your Oring on. Many times when I have placed the plane on the ground or in the back of my car, the stupid prop flies off the, leaving me with the oring, but goodness only knows where the prop is..."usually" miles away from where I am about to fly. The funny thing is, I have tested this phenomena, and the prop just hangs there off the PS, but still connected by the oring. I think it has something to do with missing sock theory. ...when you’re not there and have eyes on it...it does its own thing.

I only have prop saver on my 2 planes that do not have landing gear(my dragon and flying pizza). On them I need the prop saver to keep the prop from braking when it hits the ground. I do not use O rings, I use little hair brats(?). I do not have the props held on tight either, I let the props slip back and forth with the brats taking the force of turning the prop. All the rest of my planes either have a threaded motor shaft or I have made a threaded shaft to attach to the motor shaft. You can make a threaded shaft easy. Get an old CD ROM drive. Most of the bushings for the head slide are 3mm which fits the motors I use. I CA the bushing on the motor shaft then CS a 3mm screw with the head cut off in the bushing.

What do you think Boys? ???? Tower has this airplane for $46.00 and I just got an offer of 20 bucks off of my next $50 order. :cool: Do you Guys think it's worth it? Anyone of you have this plane? If so how does it fly? I'm looking for a new indoor bird and I think this may be the one. :) Opinions please, Boys. Marty

Sopwith pup
Buy two of them!! They are great to fly and great looking in the air. I would make one suggestion, tape the length of the wings (under) with shipping tape. Makes it a little more durable outdoors. In-door flights.....fly her right out of the box. The video here was taken in some hefty wind..but she flew well.

I did not put shipping tape on mine but I have the brace wires attached where the landing gear attached and pulled tight. The back flying wire is attached below the wing with a small piece of plywood. Makes the wings solid.

My Sopwith Pup always goes with me to the park .
Its my favorite no wind flyer . Just returned from the park and enjoyed 3 batteries worth of fun . This plane has been the best for me for low and slow and touch and goes and a lot of fun . I assembled mine as per the instruction book , and the flying wires are important I belive . Its been dumb thumbed and injured several times but a little glue and tape and it keeps on flying . The correct balance point indication being on the cabane struts makes it perfectly clear whats the correct cog . I really really like my Sopwith Pup . Other than the XXX prop savers on these little motors , my only other problem has been the several times that the wheel retainer , behind the glued on cover comes OFF and then the wheel comes off , I have 'thought' that I had this fixed a couple of times , .................well this time I soldered a really small washer onto the axle end , after the wheel went on .......and then glued the wheel cover back on again , so maybe this time its fixed for good . |

I found that if you wrap a few turns of thread around the axle, and apply a drop of super glue, they stay in place. Then, if you need to take it off, a razor knife can cut it off.
